Churches prepare for hurricanes ‘06 ADVERTISEMENT THE ASSOCIATED PRESS BALL, La.—It’s about a 31/2 hour drive from New Orleans to Ball, but the Kingsville Baptist Church is among dozens in Central Louisiana getting ready for hurricane season. “After last year, we have organized several people to serve as a disaster relief com mittee to be ready in case we are called upon again,” said the Rev. Wilburn Walker, minister of music at KingsviUe Baptist. Experts are predicting as many as 16 named storms during the humcane season wliich begins Thursday Last year, 28 Central Loxnsiana churches provided housing and aid for thbu- sands of people evacuated before and after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita struck the Louisiana Gulf Coast, said Leann Murphy chief execu tive officer of the American Red Cross’ Central Louisiana, chapter. ‘T think that, in general, churches make great shelters. They have a family atmos phere that really takes evac uees in,” Murphy said. Hurricane victims often need more than shelter, food, clothing, and medication- many suffer emotional and spiritual needs that churches can provide, Murphy said. “Congregations give a sense of community that’s a great comfort when you are goir^ throi^h a difficult period,” she said. Walker said members of his church put in time and work, and churches and faith-based oi^anizations near and far— as well as the Red Cross—pro vided money for the shelter. ‘We wrote Checks out in excess of $1 million to local shelters,” Murphy said. “Hun dreds of thousands of dollars went to pay for our faith based shelter.” The United Pentecostal Church Louisiana District’s Tioga campgrounds sheltered aromd 3,000 evacuees last year. Its secretary Rev. Randy Harper, said the church’s board wiLL decide in Jxme wheth^ to do so again. Harper said problems at tiie shelter included alcohol use and one incident each of ille gal drug use and solicitation for prostitution. Little, Teacher Salvation Comes By Revelation Only - Part IV (Last Part) Read in Galatians how Paul went up to Jerusalem (Chapter 2) and talked to those who were pillars of the truth to see if he had run in vain.’ In other words, Paul wanted to know if the pillars of the truth were saved just like he was saved. Paul found out that the pillars of the truth were saved just like he was saved. They added nothing unto his Salvation. After God saved me in 1972, i journeyed down home to New Orleans and told the pillars of the truth how God saved me. They added nothing to my Salvation. The same way God saved me was the same way He saved them. And i have heard that some unsaved religionist told a servant of the Lord: ‘You think everybody has to be saved just like you were saved." Hold your seats now. I’m going to jump a creek, as my late pastor used to say. And if you don't hold on, you may drown. And if you drown, you may just go on to hell. I wish I had been there. I would have told ^at unsaved religionist: 'Yes, you’ll be saved like I was saved or bust hell wide open!!' I was saved just like my late pastor was saved, he was saved just like Paul was saved, Paul was saved just like Job was saved. Job was saved just like Abraham v/as saved, and Abraham was saved just like Adam was saved. All mankind, by nature, is the same; totally depraved. And God’s Way of Salvation is Christ REVEALED TO YOUR HEART. Try to come any other way and you’ll bust hell wide open! My Heavenly Father does not have multitudes of ways of Salvation, Just One: Christ. He may deal with your heart in a different degree than He did mine. But two bornagain believers can walk all the way down the Way of Grace in perfect harmony because the same Holy Spirit convicted both of them of their lost, sinkri condition and revealed Christ to their hearts. You worship the Lord your way and i’ll worship Him my way." That is the dead giveaway you do not know Christ) You may not agree with me. but I’m giving you something to think about. Here’s a little group over here saying: Tm Baptist, or Catholic, or Methodist, or Greek Orthodox." Is Christ divided? If you know Christ, that is, if He has been Revealed to your heart, you want to know if the other fellow knows Christ. You are hot asking him what denomination or church he belongs to because you know that Christ is Salvation. So my question to every reader is: ‘HAS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST BEEN REVEALED TO YOUR HEART AS YOUR LORD AND YOUR SAVIOUR?" Will you face that eternal question, friends? IS HE A LIVING REALITY TO YOUR HEART? He has been revealed to my heart and He is a Living Reality to my heart. There is a song that says "Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing praises unto my Lord.” I only have one longue, so I am going to praise Him for saving me, the chief of sinners. Yes, the greatest thing in all this world is just to know Christ as your Lord and your Saviour, Greater Providence Baptist Church 2000 Milton Road, Charlotte, NC 28215 . 70-1-532-6228 704-532-7568/aj; "Experiencing God Day by Day” St. John 17:3 Come Join bs in Worship & Praise!
