Barbour encouraged people not to get discouraged in the fight
for justice.
‘Tou must be careful of the wiles of the devil,” he said. “Right
is right all the time. It’s time to draw attention. You are too pow
erful if you stay together.”
House Rep. Larry Womble (D-Forsyth County) said unity is
the key way that the group can make an impact on lawmakers.
“From this day forward, there will be unity in this place,” he
said. “There will be no more bitterness.”
Lavastian Glenn traveled finm Wmaton-Salem with a group
called Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods. She was impressed
with the Legislative Day
‘Tf you can lend support to the (POC) agenda, it is going to
help people across the state,” she said.
Jarvis Hall serves as the Political Action Committee chair of
the state NAACP. He said the NAACP coalition and other
minority organizations will ^gressively pursue an agenda that
win improve the lives of all North Carolinians, but especially
people of color. Members of the collective groups have to accept
and work on the things they have in common, and acknowledge
their differences and work on them too.
“Some things we will reach a compromise on and some we wUl
not. but we have to imderstand that,” Hall said. “We think we
have onoi.:^ in commcai that it is worth the efibit.”
