With five floors in aU, some you visit twice fixjm dif ferent sides, it can be a some what strenuous tour, up and down stairs, and some visitom may want to pace themselves. Art fans wfll be dehghted to see original Renoir’s, Whistler’s and a vase by Louis Comfort ’liffany, known sim ply today as a Tiffany Vase. For remodeling and design fans there is even the chance to experience the classic design in your own home vnth products from “Biltmore Estate for your home.” (Visit www.biltmoreforyourhome.co m) Tblevision celebrity home shows often showcase their car collections also, but do you ever get the chance to drive them? At Biltmore, I signed up for the Land Rover Experience Driving School, for the opportunity to off’-mad in $80,000 of vehicular luxury From one horn- lessons to full day programs, the Driving Experience offers first timers, like me, the chance to learn ofT-roading on the trails that exist within Biltmore Estate. For the esqierience you will either be driving the latest version of Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, or LR3. Partnered with a professional firom Land Rover, you may face a heart in your throat descent,' a^mind boggling side- hOl traverse, or an • uphill, climb S3 steep that you see nothing^bPr'fee-'sk^^as -you- ascend. The Biltmore offers a myri- , ad of activities to do fiom fly fishing school, bike tours, river float tours, and yes, wine tasting. The most visited win ery in the U.S. isn’t located in Napa Valley, Calif., but Asheville, The Biltmore Winery gets approximately 600,000 visitors to sample award-winning estate wines, or enjoy cooking demonstra tions every year. Asheville has been described as the San Francisco of the East Coast. An extremely walkable dty, visit the shops at the Grove Arcade, or the Arts and Heritage Gallery Don’t expect to find any chain stores, as Asheville is filled with all locally owned and independent shope. As well, plan accordingly, because most eating establishments in downtown Asheville are closed on Monday and some on Taesday The Soda Fountain at Woolworth Walk is located in the restoration of the original 1938 FW. Woolworth building and still serves old-fashioned ice cream sodas, floats, malts, and egg creams. The building boasts the laigest art gallery in Asheville. She questioned how meaningful the statistical dif ference was that researchers used to conclude there was a higher connection between eating sweets and fioiits com pared to salty snacks and finuts. “I think it’s an interesting idea,” she said. “But I don’t think this is the ideal approach to get at the ques tion.” On the Net: Cornell: www.comell.edu Grove Park across the street, with the award-winning chocolates at Chocolate Fetish. On Fridays, they offer the choco late covered strawberries, but everyday you can get the Velvet Sin, the French Kiss, and the dark chocolate pret zels. (They are a bit pricey, but worth every painy) I made two days of my trip and stayed at the 1900 Inn on Montford Avenue. Get away fium the stifling summer heat in Charlotte and enjoy the refieshing breeze coming off the moimtains on the porch at the Montford, Eveiy day at 6pm proprietors Ron and Lynn Carlson enjoy a glass of wine, from the Biltmore Winery, on the porch with guests. Named a “fiiend” of the African American Association of Innkeepers International, the Montford was built in April 1900 by Richard Sharp Smith, the Supervising Architect of the Biltinore House. Breakfast is served each morning in the main dining room, and guests can relax in the living or sun room. The Carlson’s offer a wide variety of DVD’s and books to guests who may want to' catch up on their movies or reading. The rooms in the Inn are named for hter- ary figures that have ties to Ashevflle; O. Henry Thomas Wolfe, Edith Whaiton, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Zelda’s Retreat is the crown jewel of the main house, in my opin ion, with it’s luxury marble whirlpool bathroom, fireplace, and king-sized bed. The room also offers a wet bar, a microwave and a TVA^CR. For travel^^ wanting a httie more privacy, try Griffin Cottage. Located directly behind the original house, the new ccanplex, completed in Apiil 2005 has the WiUiam Morris guest room and the Cloisters and Rosetti Suites. Each offers a fireplace, spa- stjie shower with sauna and Jacuzzi tub. I stayed in the William Morris lounging in its cozy leather chairs in finnt of the fireplace and staring at the leather mask above it. Entrance to the William Morris is through your own private courtyard- You can open your doors and massage in the whirlpool bath by can dlelight rmder the stars. Don’t think I didn’t. ,The best thing about the Inn at Montfoiri is that their accom modations are made fca" peo ple with curves. (You know women with a lot of assets!) If you’ve never been to Biltmore or Asheville, you owe yourself a trip, if for noth ing more than to visit Biltmore VUlage and the World’s Classiest McDonald’s. The only way to realize the future that we have dreamed of is to take action in the present. If we do not consistently do something each day, we will not achieve our goals. Our success depends upon our willingness to do something each day to bring our dreams closer to coming true. If you remember to focus on the present, do what you can do now, the present will actually take care of the Kuure. Don’t miss out on your glorious future by putting off what you need to do in the present moment. Do what you , need to do now. You will achieve your future sooner than you ever imagined! As we seek to make our dreams come true, we do what we can to narrow our focus to what we really want in life. We have come to realized that if we are going to accomplish our goals, we must reduce the number of distractions that can get us off track. An essential step in creating the kind of life that we dream of having is taking the time to create a plan to achieve what we want. This naturally lakes into consideration planning for the future. This means taking a moment to imagine or visualize what we want. However, we can become so focused on the future that we actually begin to lose sight of what it really takes to create our dreams. Focusing totally on the future can become little more than daydreaming. We may drive through neighborhoods where we hope to one day live. We may visit new automobile dealerships and pick out the kind of luxury car we want to drive one day. But if our focus is only upon the future, we will miss a very big step in creating the future we want. In order to Learn to Stay on the Track to Success.
