A message from the Co-Pubiisher
Soon, hundreds of African American students will reach one of life’s
biggest milestones - graduation from high school. Far from being an
end, for most it will represent the beginning. However, high school has
provided many students with the opportunity to display the kinds of skills
and talents which will make them successful adults.
The Charlotte Post celebrates these achievements with those students,
their teachers and their families. The Post is proud to once again honor
the best of those students by awarding its 2007 Senior of the Year award
and college scholarship. The runner up also receives a scholarship. The
two top students are selected based on a number of criteria, including
GPAs, community activities and an essay.
All of the graduates in this book have proven that those who work hard
and who have strong parental support can be successful. This book
showcases not only the Senior of the Year and the runner up, but also
dozens of other students who have excelled at school, at home and in
their communities. While most of these students will go on to tour-year
colleges, all are well prepared to begin their adult careers.
We congratulate all of the 2007 graduating seniors and wish them the
best as they embark on the next phase of their young lives.
Presenting you with our Top Senior directory is one of our most prized
services and we are honored to do so.
