' VOL. Ill; NO. 188: Inhalation iii Consumption Bfonchitist Laryngite and other Diseases of the Chest and Throat, successfully treated by the Inhalation of Medicated Vapor and Povodei by Absorption and con tinual treatment, as practiced at the "Stuyvesant Med ical Institute' NeTfork City. .Diseases of the Heart Liver, female Complaints, Dyspepsia, -Venereal Affec tion, and Chronic Diseases generally, w& .receive the attention of the Physicians, to whom such, may have been specially entrusted. - :- - The unprecedented success which has attended this method of treating diseases of the Lungs : and Throat, has induced us to depart from our usual course, and avail ourselves of the Press, in order to bring it to the knowl edge: of such as may be laboring under, or predisposed to such affections. The dawn of a brighter day has at length arrived for the Consumptive. k The doctrine of the incurability of Consumption has at length passed away. We have in dubitable proofs in our possession, that Consumption in all its stages can be cured; in the first, by tubercular ab sorption ; ?in the second, by the transformation of tub er cule into chalky and calcareous concretions j in the thira by cicatrices or scars. Those wedded to the past, may assart, that even now" Consumption is incurable: such are behind the age. To all. this great truth must be apparent, viz : that medicines inhaled in the form of V apor or Powder directly into the Lungs, must be much more effectual than that taken into the Stomach where the disease dce3 not exist." " The advantages derived from; Inhalation in the treatment of Consumption aod Throat diseases, are. that medicines In the form of Va pors are applied directly to the lungs,' where the disease exists ; the stomach being left free to aid in restoring health, by administering to it, healthy, life-giving food. There Is no case so hopeless that Inhalation will not reach ; the means, too are brought within the reach of all, the manner jof administering the Vapors being so simple, that the invalid is never required to leave home, where the hands of friendship and affection tend to aid so much the Physician's efforts. I earnestly appeal to the intelligence of all afflicted with diseases, or who may have! the germ3 of the disease within them, to embrace at once the advantages of inhalation, and no longer waste precious time in applying nostrums to the unoffending stomach. I claim for Inhalation a place amongst the precious gifte that4 Nature and Art have given us, that "ourjdays may be long in the land," and as the only "Ar or Refuge" for the Consumptive; a method not Only jiUTIONAL BUT SIMPLE, SAFE, AND EFFICIENT. - . Such of the profession that have adopted Inhalation, have found it efficacious in the highest degree, arresting the progress of the disease, and working wonders in many desperate cases ; in verity, a triumph of our Art, over this fell destroyer of our species. - , Note. -Physicians wishing to make themselves ac quainted with this practice, are informed, that our time being valuable, we can only reply, as to ingredients used; to such letters that contain a fee. The fee in all case3 of Pulmonary affections, will be $10, on receipt of which, the necessary medicines and instrument will be forwarded. The fee in other cases, will be from $5 to -$io.l; - ; - . - - - Applicants will state age, sex, occupation, married or single, how long affected, if any hereditary disease ex i3ts in the family,- and symptoms generally. Let the name, town, and ;3tate, foe plainly written. Postage for return answers mist be enclosed. Letters when regis tet-ed by the Postmaster are at our risk. All letters must bo addressed, WALLACE MERTOUN, M. D. aug. 2.-6rac S. M. Institute, N. Y. City. "Our Motto is to Please" T the WUminato-n Saddle. Harness . and Trunk Man J.ufaciory. KENNEDY, of Roibury, has discovered in one U of our common pasture weeds a remedy that cures EYERY KIND OF HUMOR; from the worst Scrofula down to a common pimple. He has tried it in over 1100 cases, and never failed except in tw cases, (both thunder humor.) He baa now in his possession over two hundred certificates of its virtue, all within twenty miles of Boston, j Two bottles ' are warranted to cure a nursing sore mouth. '. r - One to three bottles will cure the worst kind of Pim ples on the face. ! Two to three bottles will clear the system of Biles. Two bottles are warranted to cure the worst canker in the mouth and stomach. Three to five bottles are warranted to cure the worst case of Erysipelas. One to two bottles are warranted to cure all humor in the Eyes. ' - Two bottles are warranled to cure and blotches among the hair. running of the ears Four to six bottles are warranted to cure corrupt and running ulcers. One bottle will cure scaly eruption t Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the worst case of ringworm. i Two to three bottles are warranted to cure the most desperate case of rhumatism. I ! Three to four bottles are warranted to cure the- salt rheum. 'j Five to eight bottles will cure the worst case of scrof ula. '.-!'- j A benefit is always experienced from the first bottle, and a perfect cure is warranted when the above quan tity is taken. j Reader, I peddled over a thousand bottles of this in the vicinity of Boston. I know the effect of it in every case. So sure as water will extinguish fire, so sure will thi3 cure humor. I never sold a bottle of it but that I sold another : after a trial it always speaks for itself There are two things about thi3 herb that appears to me sur prising ; first that it grows in our pastures, in some pla ces quite plentiful, and' yet its value has never been known, until I discovered it in 1846 second, t'hat it should cure all kinds of humor. j I In order to give some idea of the sudden rise and great popularity of the discovery, I will state that in April, 1853, I peddled it, and sold about six bottles per day In April 1854, 1 sold over one thousand bottles per day Some of the wholesale Druggists who have been in business twenty and thirty years, say that nothing in the annals of patent medicine was ever like it. There is a universal praise of it from all quarters. i ! In my own practice I always kept it strictly for hu mors but since its introduction as a general family medicine, great and wonderful virtues have been found . in it that I never suspected. 1 j I Several cases of epileptic fits a disease which was alwajs Considered incurable, have been cured by a few bottles. 0, what a mercy if it will "prove effectual in all cases of that awful malady there are but few who have seen more of it than I have. j I know of several cases of Dropsyj all of them aged people cured by it. For the various diseases of the Liver, Sick Headache, Dyspepsia, Asthma, Fever and Ague, Pain in the side, Diseases of the Spine, aud par ticularly'in diseases of the Kidneys, &c, the- discovery has done more good than any mpdicine ever known; No change of diet ever necessary4-eat the best you can get and enough of it. I Directions fob Use. Adults one table spoonful per day Children over ten years desert spoonful Chil dren from five to eight years, tea spoonful. As no di rections can be applicable to all constitutions, take suf ficient to operate on the bowels twice a day. Manufactured by DONALD KENNEDY, No. 120 Warren Street J Roxbury, Mass.
