CUIin, Jr., Editor and Proprietor. S I D OLIiAUS . A YEAR IX ADVANCE 1 'J VOL;ni....NO; 277. v WEDNESDAY EVENING, JANUARY 28, 1857. WHOLE NG. 897 Inhalation in Consumption. ' Bronchitis, Laryngites and other Diseases of the CJust anl XArp, luccessfully treated by the Inhalation of Medicated Vaport t and Pomtertby Absorption and con tinual treatment, practiced at the" StayresantMed - il Institute," New York Citj. 'I Diseases of the Heart Aver, Female V Complaints, Dyspepsia, Venereal Affec tions, and Chronic Diseases generally, will receive the 'attention of the Physicians, to whom Such may have teeaipecially entni3tcdr ; -' ... ' The unprecedented success which has attended thi3 'method of treating diseases of the Lunga and Throat, has induced us to depart from our usual course, and avail ourselves of the Press, in order to bring it to the knowl edge of such as may be laboring under, or preiispoae-i tosach affections. .','. , The dawn of a brighter day has at length arrived for the Consumptive. The doctrine of the incurability of Consumption has at length passed away,'-'-.We haye in habitable, proofs in our possession, that Consumption in all its stages can be cured ; in the first, by tubercular ab forption ; in the second, by the transformation of tub erculo into chalky and calcareous concretions.; in the third by cicatrica or scars. Those wedded to the past, may assort, that veu now Consumption 13 incurable; such are behind the age. Tbjall, thU great truth must be apparent, viz : that medicines inhaled in the form of V.ipor or Powder directly into the Lungs, must be much mure, eTsctual than that taken into the Stomach where the disease dees riot exist. The advantages derived Jrom Tnhalation in the treatment of Consumption and Throat diseases, are, that medicinea in tho form of Va pors arc applied directly to the lungs, where the disease exists ; the stomach being left free to. aid in restoring health, by altninisteringto it, healthy, life-giving food. There is no case so hopeless that Inhalation will not reach ; the means, too are brought within ihe reach of all, the manner of administering the Vapors being so 8'uopfe, that the invalid is never required to leave home, wh ro the hands of friendship 'and affection tend to aid si. nach the Physician efforts. 1 1 earnestly appeal to the .ntelligence of all afflicted-with diseases, or who may tat the germs of tho disease within them, to embrace , once the advantagesbfinhalation, and no longer waste recious time in applying nostrums to the unoffending ptomach. I claim for Inhalation a place amongst the precious gifts that Nature and Axt have given us, that 'our days may be long in the land," and as the only "A.RK or Refcgs" for the Consumptive; a method not ' nnlr RiTfrtVAL BUT SIMPLK. SAFB, AND EFFICIEKT. Suchof the profession that have adopted Inhalation, l ave found it efficacious in the highest degree, arresting tho progress of the disease, and working wonders in riany desperate cases ; in verity, a triumph of our. Art, iver this fell destroyer of our species. Note. --Physicians' wishing to make themselves ac quainted with this practice, are informed, that our time oeing valuable, we can only reply, as to ingredients ased, to such letters that contain a lee. The fee in all cases of Pulmonary affections, will be $10, on receipt of which,' the necessary medicines and instrument will be forwarded. The fee in'other cases, will be from $5 to : $10. - . Various trades, and in sewing every sort of.fabrics, either cloth or leather, they have bean fully tried aud approvod. Seeing machines of other manufacturers often fail to work, but SINGER'S MACHINES AL WAYS OPERATE PERFECTLY, being strong, dara b'e and complete in CDntrivance and workmanship. A perfect 3ewing machine kept employed affords a clear proQt of 1,0' ' 1 a year ; but an imperfect one is a cause of constant vexation and loss. The entire RELiABiUTr of oar machines is 'on a great reason for their unparal leled populari tv. MACHINES FOR FAMILY'SEWING, ' of a tVail delicate construction,' are recommended by other manufacturers-. -'Such iiiachiaes are mado to catch the eye, not to perform substantial work. The truth i3, family sewing machines ought to be stronger than any other, because they go into le33 skillful hancls than-when sold to inannlacturers, and are used for a greater variety of work The machines which have pro ved best -for all other purposes must be best for family use, and they are Singer's. The speed of our. machines has lately been doubled. No other can compare with them in quantity of work. - " New machines o the latest improved style will be exchanged on liberal terms for old sewing machines of our own make, or fir operative machines of other manufacturers.
