Press Meeting - Cont’d. come. These machines, according to Mr, Franks, will mean faster newspaper production and higher profits. This is the fourth meeting of the publishers of North Carolina to be held at Chowan College School of Graphic Arts since it was established in 1952 through their efforts. They have continued to support the school in every area, and only recently raised funds for the attractive addition to the school's building. Printing In dustry of the Carolines, Charlotte ONE OF THE FIRST—At a recent meeting of the North Carolina Press Association Mechanical Conference, held in Raleigh, Charles Bridges of the WaynesviUe Mountaineer, one of the first graduating students of the Chowan College School of Graphic Arts (Class of 1954), was photographed with his former instructor, John Mc- Sweeney, director of the school. Whitaker, president of Chowan College, as they talked about the explosive growth of both the college and the School of Graphic Arts. The occasion was the recent meeting of the Eastern North Carolina Press Association held at the school of printing. “IT’S JUST AMAZING!”—Herman Gatewood, Chowan College School of Graphic Arts instructor, ex plains the new Linotype Elektron, just installed, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank P'ttard of the Lenoir County News, Kinston, and Bill Treadaway, executive secretary of the Printing Industry of the Carolinas, Charoltte.
