Indoor Parking (ACP) — A University of Iowa graduate student had park ing problems. He drives a motorcycle. "It’s not a bike so it can't be parked in bike racks,” he said. “It could park with cars, but I can’t get a sticker.” Finally, he figured out a way. "I drove it in the back ramp of the chemistry building — I work there — and took it up the ele vator. Then walked it to my lab . . .Here I parked it next to my lab bench. It’s tiny, and doesn't hurt anyone. . .“But by 3:05 — that's what it says on my ticket — I got hit.” The offense? There were four: "No sticker, no parking zone, parked against traffic, and not within the lines.” Herman Gatewood, faculty ad visor for THE CHOWANIAN. lOok the cover picture Murfrees boro Baptist Church. Draft Dodgers (ACP) — After years of put ting students through the ma chine, the University of Califor nia committed the final igno miny — the distinctions between the male and female students have finally been erased, says the Daily Californian. At least that seems to be the case since the University began putting draft deferment forms, bureaucratically known as "SSS Form 109 for undergraduates” in registration packets sent to women students. Happily, most of the women students weren’t too distressed by the complete disregard of their sex. One smiling frosh co ed said, “I thought it was a sign of their non-discrimination.” A spokesman in the registrar’s office explained that the cards were automatically put into all of the registration packets sent out. "However, the instructions were clear,” she said. 1/ie OLdiomm^ “The trouble with opportu nity is that it always comes disguised as hard work.” PAGE TWO THE CHOWANIAN
