I STUDENT OF THE MONTH—Steve Marlowe, left, is presented the Murfreesboro Exchange Club Student of the Month Award by Professor William B. Sowell. The young sophomore is one of Chowan’s most active students in campus activities, and serves as president of the Circle K club. Marlowe Named For Exchange Award Stephen D. Marlowe, a student at diowan College, has been selected as the Murfreesboro Exchange Qub Student of the Month for April. The award is made to students who demon strate outstanding community service, citizenship, scholarship, and leadership. Steve is president of the Chowan College Circle K Club which is noted for its many projects or service to the com munity and to Chowan College. Steve is also serving on the Student Legislature and is one of the outstanding students in Cliowan’s School of Gra[diic Arts. Steve plans to transfer to Sam Houston State University next year where he will major in Printing Management. He is also listed in the current edition of Who’s Who Among Students In American Junior Colleges. According to the Chairman of the Exchange Club Student of the Month Committee, Steve has been most instrumental in his leadership role as president of the Circle K Gub and has demonstrated those qualities nx)st characteristic of service to the community. Steve is a sophomore from' Fayetteville, Nortii Carolina, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Marlowe. Chowan Signs FAAA Star Pat Callahan, a baseball and basketball star at Granby who attended Frederick. Military Academy this year, has received a scholarship to play the two sports at Chowan College. Callahan averaged 19.8 points a game in his senior season for Gremby and 15.1 for the FMA Prep team last winter. The 5-10 guard was considered one of the best outside shooters in the Eastern District. He played outfield and second base at Granby and in American Legion ball. "Pat is an outstanding shooter and is very effective against man-to-man defenses,” said FMA basketball coach Rufus Outland. “If you let him shoot from the right side; it’s two points.” Callahan competed for the Frederick track team (there is no baseball program at the school) and was a standout in the hurdles and the 100-yard dash. Outland also announced that Tom Neer, a 6-1 guard who played high school ball at St. Stephens in Alexandria, will attend Randolph-Macon. The Chowanian Chowan College, Murfreesboro, N.
