Mark Chowan's Anniversary
Three Baptist presidents mark the close of Chowan
College's 125th Anniversary year. They are Dr. Owen
Cooper, left, Mississippi layman and president of the
Southern Baptist Convention; Dr. V. Carney Hargroves,
president of the Baptist World Alliance; and Dr. Bruce
Whitaker, Chowan College president. Cooper was the
commencement speaker at the college; Hargroves
preached the baccalaureate sermon.
