Cheatham. Congressman Kitchin was in the city today and talked with quite a number of our people in regard to the matter. In conversation this morning he said that Mr. Mercer, of Nebraska, chairman of the public buildings committee, had told him that a more meritorious bill could not be passed. Mr. Kitchin was as sured that the bill for an appropri ation for a building here would be passed at this session of Congress Mr. Kitchin has furnished Con gress with all the necessary statistics as to the amount of revenue derived from the postoffioe and the deputy collectors ofhee, and much other valuable information. He will give the committee appointed at Monday night's meeting to go to Washing ton every assistance in his power. OCCASION OF INTEREST. The Sunday School Institute at Trinity Church. The Sunday School Institute of Methodist workers convened at Trin ity church, in this city, Monday niglt at 7:30 o'clock. There were a number of Sunday School workers and friends of the movement present. After the devotional half-hour of song and prayer service, Frof. II. M. llamill dis. ussed under the gen eral head of "Some Hard Problems," the following: "The Big Boy Prob lem," "The Problem of Atten dance," "The Problem of Teacher Supply," "The Problem of Grading." Prof. Hamill most ably and to the edification of all, talked on each of these knotty problems. This afternoon at 2:30 o clock, the second session of the Institute was held. . , After the devotional half hour, "Modern Sunday School Methods" (From the Bible Teacher's Study Course; Cunnyngham s "Sunday School History,") were conducted by Prof. Hamill. Mrs. Hamill led the subject of the primary department. 1 he. following is the program for tonight: song and praise service; Institute Question Drawer, held by Mrs. Hamill; Address, "The Sunday School Idea," by Prof. Hamill; Ad dress, "Child Conversion," by Mrs. Hamill; Announcements and ad. journment. The men began work at Reusen's and have come down the river foot by foot. They will con tinue until Richmond is reached, exploring both sides of the river. Kitchin, who spent today in Durham, met a large number of his friends while here. In speaking of the matter of his candidaoy, he stated that be had re ceived very many assurances from all parts of bis district that be will again, be named to represent us in tbe next Congress. The Sun can truthfully say that no man in Congress has labored harder in the interest of his con stituency than has Mr. Kitchin. lis record is clean and unsullied, and not a single thine can be brought against him either in pub ic or private life. Ihe people ot the district will most certainly send him back to tbe House of Represen tatives.
