Professor of Political Economy, to
succeed Prof. Jerome Dowd. He
is. a graduate of Cornell. He took
his degree at Colombia, writing a
thesis on. Pension Legislation, that
attracted widespread attention.

largely attended commencement ever
witnessed in Durham.
The reception was given in honor
of the graduating class. The pa

ing, and from nine to eleven o clock

New Jersey where he and his family
will reside in the future, lbe best

Finderne Park, where he will have
a wider scope' for bis profession.
W. W. Card, an old pupil of Mr.
Wbitehouse, will succeed him here
and have charge of this branch of
instruction at. Trinity Park. He is
in every way capable of filling the
position.
A Cute Turnout. .
James Lee lyree, the little son
of Mr. and Mrs. IS. L lyree, is a
great horseman and is now the pos
sessor of a beutiul pony, which
is the acme of his delight. And he
is as gallant as he is joyful. He
j appeared on Cleveland street, Tues
day afternoon, in a little wagon
the whole outfit being one of tbe
cutest things seen on our streets for

The Society Medals.
In order to set things right and
accord honor to whom honor is due,
we publish again the names of tbe
winners of tbe medals in the Colum
bian and Hesperian Societies of
Trinity College, which were pre
sented on Tuesday night. We tried
to give this to our readers on Wed
nesday afternoon, but tbe printer
slipped up on it so that this part
was almost unrecognizable.

Picnic at Trinity Park.
The Methodist Sunday School, of
Kinston, will run their annual ex
cursion to Durham on Tuesday of
next week. Ibey will picnic at
Trinity Park, and everything possi
ble will be done to make them have
a delightful time. Kinston people
will be here about a thousand
strong. A better place for a day's
outing could not have been selected.
Less than tbe usual amount of
money will buy more than the usual
amount of foot-wear goodness.
There's a streak of luck for those
