given some erroneous information. Ms.
Barker says that The Front Page will be
available there.
I appreciate your information on the
“coming out” brochure. I have made plans to
obtain some for counseling work here at the
church.
Incidentally, I do enjoy your newspaper, as
a matter of fact, I’ve met someone through the
personal ads in your paper. I’m elated.

Gay Men’s
Chorus Forming
in Charlotte
Dear sirs:
Sufficient interest has been shown by local
gay men to encourage me to form a Gay
Men’s Chorus similar to other such choruses
around the country. This is a serious venture
that will obtain non-profit status and whose
purpose will be to provide and perform a
variety of styles of choral literature to the local
community and organizations immediately,
and distant communities, and cities
eventually. Any support The Front Page can
provide will be helpful. If possible a feature
article would be especially appreciated.
Please enter the following notice into your

Meanwhile, Back
In Eastern N.C.:
Dear friends,
Well, here’s another letter from Ross
Murphy out in Kinston. (Doesn’t that guy
have anything to do but write letters to The
Front Page?)
Thanks very much for publishing my most
recent classified ad. Thanks, too, for wanting
to share my personal experiences with others
(letters printed in Vol. 2 No. 14). A lot of
people have mentioned seeing my letters in
the paper, and the fact that you wanted to
share them with your readers confirms what I
felt from the beginning. . .that you CARE
about all of us. What a great feeling!
You’ll be hearing from me. . .since I’m
going to be reporting to you on the activities of
a local group.
Your Hosts.

The East Carolina Gay Community
(E.C.G.C.) has begun meeting on a regular
basis once again. The group is open to anyone
in Eastern North Carolina, although it is
officially an ECU group. At the moment, 1 am
the only non student participant, and one of
my aims with the group will be to make more
non-students aware of ECGC and its
availability to all.
One of my suggestions at the first meeting
was that we keep The Front Page informed of
all our activities, since the paper is available to
a large number of Gays in our area. I will be
keeping you informed from time to time on
what we’re doing, and hopefully you can give
us some much-needed publicity.
At the moment, ECGC is functioning as a
discussion group, but plans are being made
for inviting speakers and holding specific
discussions on all issues involving Gay life.
The group plans to meet every other week,
and anyone is welcome to attend.
Official membership in the group is not
required, in order to insure confidentiality. No
records are kept of names of anyone
attending. We want and need the support of
Everyone in Eastern North Carolina. Anyone
needing more information, or wanting to
arrange transportation may call Ross in
Kinston, at (919) 523-5078.
If possible, we’d like to have a regular listing
of the above information in your classified ad
section, under “groups.”
Thank you very much for your coverage.
Very truly yours,
Ross Murphy
And a Letter From
Western N.C.:
Dear Front Page staff:
Thanks for the great job you’re doing with
The Front Page and for your great coverage
of NC gay issues. We appreciate your running
the item about the boycott of The Mother
Earth News, which Northern Lambda Nord
initiated and then surprised us when we first
saw it in print. We hope it is effective. We hope
to publish a list of alternative publications to
Our boy T.W. as he appears in “The Pursuit
of D.B. Cooper, ” a story based on a real and
still unsolved mystery.
TMEN which are not homophobic in a future
issue of RFD.
One other item of business: The TMEN
boycott article, listed the price of a sample
issue of RFD at $5. It should be $3, and a
year’s subscription, $8.50. Please correct in
some way.
We value the support of TFP and hope to
continue our co operative relationship in the
future.
Sincerely,
Edwin Bridges

Aw, shucks. . .
It weren’t nothing.
Dear Editor:
Volume 2, No. 14 of The Front Page is the
best issue of any gay periodical that 1 have
ever read. It contained a lot of good news for
gay people, although there was some bad
news also. Some of the good news was printed
