teen Seniors Get Diplomas At Glade 1943 Graduating Class Is Larger Than Usual Here Presbyterian S c h o ol Was Founded In The County In 1911 ' ' > Glade Valley school, which is the*only private school in. the county, has 18 in the graduating class this year. This is a Presbyterion school which wa sestablished in 1911 and attracts studnets from out ol the county as well as some from other states. The faculty is well trained and is headed by Super intendent E. B. Eldridge, a grad uate of State College, who has been in charge since 1917. The list of the graduates this year, together with th£ir briel biographies, is as follows: ELIZABETH BREWER Elizabeth who is from Charlotte is 16. President of Sunday School Class for two years. Secretary of Arthur Walker Literary Society 1942-’43 in both junior and senior plays. Cheer leader. On Program Committee two years. Soft-ball team. Hobby: Rowing. ELIZABETH IDOL Prom Charlotte, Elizabeth is 11 years old. She was on honor roll for year. Member soft-ball team. Hobby: Sewing. Ambition: Enter college. EDWIN DUNCAN, JR. Edwin Jr., Who comes from Sparta, is 15 years old. Football team ’42. Hobbies: Hunting, ten nis. The appraisal schedules listed assets of $1,389,509, against obli gations of 1,727,858, of which $1, SlMXi wBredgfejg/ Schwab, whose name ana tne word “steel” were almost syn onymous for decades, started his career as a grocery boy in Brad dock, Pa., and climbed up the rungs of the steel industry until his fortune was estimated as high and educational organizations. It was luck, Schwab once told an interviewer, that made him at 39 the man Andrew Carnegie and J. P. Morgan the elder selected as first president of the merger palled U. S. Steel. Later, it was reported he turned down an of fer of $l,000,000-a-year from Krupp’s in Germany to stay on where he was at $100,000 a year.
