Miss Clyde Fields, superinten-! dent of schools, was in charge of I the meeting at which Mrs. Hat-j tie Parrot, a member of the Di- I vision of Instructional service of I the State Board of Education, and] Mrs. Ruth Moore, assistant ad- [ visor of physical education and health of the State Board of Ed-1 ucation, spoke to the group. Miss Fields pointed out that all! teachers of Alleghany would be I expected to carry on workshops] and study courses during this] school year. Many helpful sug-l gestions were given by Mrs. Par-| rot and Mrs. Moore. Principals of all schools were| given instructional and janitorial | supplies at the meeting. About fifty percent of the] teachers of the county were pres-| ent for the meeting. County To Get Share Of Roa< Raymond S^ith Addressesl Chamber Of Commerce Group Friday Night The people of Alleghany werel assured that this county would! be granted a full share of all| road building and improvement in the near future, in an addre by Raymond Smith, member oil the State Highway Commission! for this district, to the chamber I of commerce here last Friday| night Mr. Smith further stated that just as soon as equipment and materials were available, work would be started on roads throughout the state, in which Al leghany county is to share equal ly with other counties. “We are going to act rathei than talk,” Mr. Smith said, as hel discussed fully the roads and fi nances of the state. f Mr. Ashby, district supervisor of the State Highway Depart ment, was also a guest at the | meeting.
