PUNTS ' and PASSES By BILL Another week and other games, 1 'with more records to be bro ken and some more upsets to be chalked up. Last week, how ever, saw most of the strong teams coming through stronger than ever. Of the ten teams we selected, we only missed two that of Rice and State College. We really would call State’s defeat an upset, but so was the 70 yard run of little Bobby Forbes from Florida. But with such a run as that, almost any team can win.1 State was the only one of the big five teams of the state to loose. Carolina came through to defeat William and Mary. Duke.1 Wake Forest and Davidson were also successful in their various encounters. Duke Vs. Wake Forest This week, the game of North Carolina will be between Duke and Wake Forest, at Wake For est, Saturday afternoon. Wake Forest, victor over North Carolina, and having three straight Southern Conference victories dangling from the walls of the trophy room, will face the big test of the year with Duke’s scrappy Devils. Duke, which tripped N. C. State and Tennessee, was tied by strong Navy and is definitely GREYHOUND FARES ARE ••• Today’s' sky-scraping cost 'of living makes it necessary for all of us to buy wisely, to be choosey in our purchases, to get the most for our money .. They have seeded a field to alfalfa this summer. This per on the way back to the pinnacle of Southern Conference football. The Blue Devils, riddled by in juries in early season, are expect, ed to be at the peak of power for the game against the smart passing' and heavy Wake Forest squad. This annual meeting may go far in deciding the Southern Conference crown and will place the winner in the favorite’s seat in the Big Five race. Carolina Goes to Fla. Wnile Duke.anq Wake Forest take over the spotlight as the top “home” attraction of the week end for North Carolina fans, the Tar Heels of North Carolina will travel to Gainesville, Fla., to meet the ’Gators in an inter-con ference game. Ray Wolf, who coached North Carolina before he entered the Navy, will be at the helm of the ’Gators and expects to have his team primed for the battle. Davidson Invades Va. Davidson also takes the road, invading Lexington, Va., to face Washington and Lee’s up-and coming Generals in a Southern Conference battle. N. C.
