Church and Thomas St. George received a greatly appreciated Christmas present that arrived this past week. The stockholders of the Brunswick Navigation Company in annual session here this past week, voted that this handsome Christmas present be given the captains, showing appreciation for the large catches this season. GOOD ATTENDANCE Snow and ice and frigid temperature did not prevent over a hundred Southport and Wilmington people from venturing out to the Birthday Ball given at the CCC camps gymnasium in honor of President Roosevelt to raise funds for the prevention and treatment of infantile paralysis. The gymnasium was decorated in red, white and blue streamers overhead. Hot chocolate, tomato, banana and peanut butter sandwiches were served at eleventhirty by members of the dance committee. The music was furnished by a Wilmington orchestra and dancing was the order of the night until one o'clock. A 4-H calf club has been organized at the Mills Home near Thomasville in Davidson county ! with the members owning 10 : beautiful Holsteins.
