water will average a depth of Three
Feet to a point 011 Frying Pan
Shoals; (hence with the boundary of
the Western Coast of said Atlantic

the mouth of the Cape Fear River,
being a distance of pbout five miles,
thence up said river with the channel
of the same to a point in said
rhannel opposite Light House Creek;
thence direct to the place of beginning,
being said Four Post.-- in the
mouth of said Light House Creek,
where said beacon lights were formerly
kept by said Government, and
containing Five Thousand acres, more
or less, excepting from the above
boundaries that part of said land
now owned by the U. S. Government,:
said exceptions including a lot for
Light House at east end of said
Island, containing 20 acres, and at
west end a lot containing 10 acres,
and a right-of-way and easement and
public highway from one end of said
Island to the other, said right-ofway
being twenty feet wide.
The above description includes and
is intended to include all land of
Smith Island, south of Light House
Creek.
