There was plenty to feed the whole crowd when the good things that the neigh bors brought were added up with what Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan had provided. The table was centered with a vase of spring flowers and every one served themselves. The evening I was rounded off with a good old ' time square dance, with some fine music being provided by Joe Reeves, of Leland, and Emil Coirl and Ralph and Hal Langley, of Wilmington. BIRTHDAY PARTY A surprise party was given in honor of O. B. Sellers, of Supply, on last Thursday, the occasion being his 75th birthday. Ludlum, near Shallotte, was the scene of a surprise birthday j dinner Sunday. Mr. Ludlum was 1 66-years-old on that day, and ! most of his children and a num | ber of the grandchildren gather ; ed to celebrate it with him. A big dinner, was part of the day's events. | Mr. and Mrs. Ludlum have raised 11 children, all of whom are still living. F. Gore and Mrs. Pearl Aldridge. The honoree was recipient of many nice presents. Mrs. Hewett Is Club Hostess The March meeting of Boon's Neck Club was held with Mrs. Clydie Hewett. The meeting was I opened by singing "Lead on ; O'King Eternal," followed by the 1 collect of Club Women of Ameri ca. During the business meet ing members paid club dues, the poultry leader, Mrs. Roach, read a very interesting letter on how to prevent spreading of diseases. Each member was asked to give j a hen to sell or give a dollar for I expenses at the Council meeting. Miss McLamb gave a very in teresting demonstration on the correct way of setting a table, after which there followed an in teresting discussion. The meeting adjourned to meet again with Mrs. Sidney Hewett on April 23rd. The hostess served delicious re freshments which everyone en joyed very much. Tnose present were: Mrs. Carvin Roach, Mrs. B. L. Bullock, Mrs. M. E. Kirby, Mrs. Carry Hewett and Mrs. Eva Holden. The female grasshopper may lay 126 eggs at a time.
