She was 70-years old and was a
life-long resident of that com
munity. She was the widow of j
the late W. H. Reeves.
She is survived by two sons
and three daughters, G. W. and:

Following Long Illness
James Henry Phelps, Wacca- 1
maw township farmer who has
been in ill health for several
years, died last Wednesday at
his residence near Ash. Mr.
Phelps was 69-years old and was
well known throughout the coun
ty. .1
Surviving him are his wife,
Mrs. Mary E. Phelps; four sons,
Sidney Phelps of Ash; Raymond
of Supply, also survive. ' j
Funeral services were held
Monday afternoon at Sharon Me
thodist church and were in
charge of the pastor, Rev. C.
H. Lewis. Burial was in the
Sharon cemetery. i

Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon from the
Phelps residence with Rev. Gil
lard Lewis, of Shallotte, in
charge. Burial was in the New
Life Baptist church oemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews . of
the deceased, Bonnie, Audie,
Homer, Aldreth, Herman and
Delmar Phelps.

day afternoon.

three children returned Saturday
afternoon from visiting relatives
in Winston-Salem.
George Mcllvaine, whose ship is
in dock at New York, spent the
week end here with his wife.
Mrs. Brady Dunlap and son,
Charles, returned this week from
visiting Lt. Dunlap in Texas.
Mr. and Mrs.' R. M. Robinson,
of Quantico, Va., spent the week
end with Mr. and Mrs. D. R.
Johnson and Mrs. Johnson re
turned with them to visit.
Mrs. W. E. Lewis, Jr., and
little daughter left this week for
San Francisco, Calif., from where
she will sail to Hawaii to join
her husband, who is stationed
there in the U. S. Navy.
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Tharp,
George and Misses Myrtle and
Mary Molly Zibelin, of Wilming
ton, spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. C. H. Zibelin.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Henry visit
ed Dosher Memorial Hospital and

organization of a new Home
Demonstration club at the home
of Mrs. C. T. Willetts in the
Mill Creek community. The fol
