Her only ornament was a diamond neck-! lace, a gift from her grand mother, Mrs. L. Miller of New : York, who first ? wore the neck lace as a bride and who was pre sent at the ceremony. Miss Robinson, the maid of; honor, was dressed in green. The bridesmaids. Miss Oliver and Miss Gaskins, wore yellow gowns and Miss Reese and Miss Swan were in green. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the com munity building across from the church. It was beautifully de- 1 corated with gladiolas and other flowers. Ice cream, cake and mints were served. Following the reception Mr. and Mrs. Watkins left for a | week's honeymoon trip to soma unannounced destination. They will be at home in Norfolk, Va., where the groom is in business, after September I. I BIRTHDAY PARTY Pete .Singletary entertained a 1 number of friends at a birthday party Saturday afternoon at Stanbury. His Aunt Hattie Gal loway, whose birthday was the following day, was a guest of honor. A wenier roast was enjoyed by ] all. Soft drinks were served for | refreshments and several games were played. Holmes, prominent Le land citizen, has been able to re turn to his home after spending some time as a patient in a Wil mington hospital. Mr. Jones owns considerable property in and' around Southport. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Rankin, of j New York, are spending some time here with Mrs. Rankin's relatives. Attorney and Mrs. G. Butler Thompson, of Goldsboro, spent the week end here with Mr. ' Thompson's mother, Mrs. Anna Butler Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Fodale and daughter, Miss Rose Fodale, have returned to their home in Boston after spending two weeks here ' with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fodale. | Mr. Fodale was formerly engag- j ed extensively in the shrimp fish-! ing industry at Southport and | still operates in Louisiona. Mrs. L. P. Munford, who was visiting in Norfolk, Va., last week, was called to Two Har- ! bors, Minn., by the serious illness ' of Mr. Munford's mother in a ! hospital there. Mr. Munford, who is a radioman with the Coast Guard and who has been station t ed in Alaska for nearly two i i years, is also enroute to Two | Harbors. World War II, joined V-6, in-' active naval reserve, last Satur- 1 day in Wilmington as a seaman first-class. He is required to un dergo one night of training each week in the port city. Sellers served in the coast guard aboard the destroyer escort U. S. S. Peterson for 20 months with a rank of 3-c gunners mate.
