J. HAWES, Secretary Miss Peggy Greene, of Charles ton, S. C? sang "Because," and "Indian Love Call." Miss Smith, who was given in marriage by her father, L. D. Smith, wore an informal frock of blue French lact, styled on princess lines, with a high neck and cap sleeves. Her hat was an off the face brown felt with blue feather tips matching the blue in the dress. Her accessories, in cluding her three-quarter length gloves, were all in brown and she carried a white testament ornamented with a white orchid and tuberoses. Mrs. L. D. Smith, mother of the bride, wore a black dress trimmed in blue and carried black accessories. Her flower was an orchid in purple. Mrs. W. S. Hol land, mother of the groom, wore teel blue with fuschia accessories and a purple orchid. Immediately following the cere mony the couple left for a wed ding trip. Climaxing the entertainment for the couple wr?s a cake cutt ing given Saturday night at the American Legion Home by Mrs. William S. Holland, mother of the groom, and Mrs. L. D. Smith, mother of the bride. Mrs. Holland was graduatef" from New Hanover high school and since that time has been em ployed by the Atlantic Coast Line. PERSONALS Miss Mary Milligan, of Wash ington, D. C., is visiting Miss Mae Phelps. Miss Elba Raye Hawes, of Shaltotte, has resigned her posi tion with the Coastal Drug com pany at Shallotte. She leaves Monday to enter Meredith Col lege at Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hubbard have returned to Southport from a week's visit at their old home at Sarnwell, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Spruill, of , Norfolk, Va., spent last we k here with Mrs. Charles Eas'ey. Robert J. Barton has returned So his home at Berwyn, 111., after visit ir.g friends here. ? Mrs. R. I. VISITING AT POINT Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Gibson and little daughter have returned to Freeman, W. Va., after spending two weeks at Shallotte Point with Mrs. Gibson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Chadwick, Jr. They also spent a few days at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Gibson, of Madison, spent part of the time with them. OCT AGAIN R. Will Davis, venerable South port citizen who suffered, a crack ed shoulder when he fell over an egg crate several days ago, is able to be out again. His left arm is still in a sling, however. ENTERS SCHOOL 1 Miss Betty Lee Oliver and Miss Sally Ann MacNeil left this week for Washington, D. C. Miss Oliver is attending the Abbott school of Art. [vacation trip Mr. and Mrs. Alton J. Russ, of Longwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Russ, of Wilmington, left Monday on a pleasure trip to Chimney Rock, Asheville, the j mountains, Knoxville, Chatta nooga, and Nashville, Tenn., [where they will attend the "Grand ; Ole Opry" and Ihe "Old Barn Dance" at VVSM next Saturday night.
