Never . ii't something over ^ ui ue fish and were intrigued- at the fishing of all sorts, commercial and sport. Mr. Evans i3 a real estate man in Huntsville and both he and Mr. Noble seemed to be interested in Southport and Brunswick county real estate. At any rate, they say they will be back and they went so far as to talk building. The Sailfisher I. a crack cabin cruiser sport fishing boat, Cap vain Herman Reitz, Jr., arrived Saturday night from Ocean City, Mo., for a month or more of fishing before going on to its home base at Stuart, Fla. Cap tain Reitz told us that his par ties got 43 white marlin from the Sailfisher I at Ocean City this summer. He said there is no doubt of the marlin also being off Southport and it will be the business of some of the boats to prove it this month. Al G. Dickson, editor of the Wilmington News, was telling us this week that so far he had not been able to take his vacat ion this year. Al likes his fish ing to be pretty much of the SERVICE and SATISFACTION - e people who have tried our service seem to like it. They Always Come Back For More ! ! WILSON ARNOLD f. S. Xo. 1/ Supply, N. Maybe sometime this mon th or next A1 will do like Wil mington's postmaster, Wilbur Dosher: Come down to Southport for a week or ten days of fish ing. Some ten days or so ago "Uncle Jce" Reeves, venerable Southport negro, who does odd jobs about the town despite the fact that he is 92-years old, lost his watch. From all we can learn about it, the time piece was an open face model finished in nic kle, with a leather pocket fob. The watch was probably worth very little to anyone except Uncle Joe. This writer will personally ap preciate it if the finder will re turn the watch to "Uncle Joe", or come across with a donation to wards buying him another watch. While some folks claim that they cannot be in Southport for five minutes before they meet up with us, one of our old friends ran into the opposite Friday. We were in Wilmington. Allan Corson, fishing editor of the Miami Her ald and a fellow member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, was headed back to Miami from eastern states. He left Route 17, came around by Southport and hunted all over town for us. or so - he said in a note that he left. Mr. Corson has made two visits with us in prewar years. We regret that we did not get to see him this time. Having nothing better to say at the moment, Postmaster Wil bur Dosher of Wilmington, a na tive Southport, elected to pass something to us this week. Some thing that we rate as a much valued compliment: "You have given Southport and Brunswick county more and better advertis ing than any man who has ever lived here. My hat's are off to you", said he. Dr. E. R. Motley, Sr., 74-year old Charlotte physician who drew first blood by catching a 6ft-9 inch sailfish while out with other Charlotte sportsmen on the Idle on Saturday, told us that he had never before fished in any ocean. His fine sailfish was naturally a thriller. He lost very little, if any of the thrill, when his own son, Dr. E. R. Motley, Jr.. caught the heavest sailfish of the year a bare two hours later.
