No invitations are being Is sued, but friends in Southport are invited. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Smith, of South-, port. WOMAN'S CLUB Dr. J. M. Waggette, pastor of I Southport Presbyterian church,, was speaker at the regular meet-| ing of the Southport Woman's j Club last week, choosing as his topic "Life Can Be Beautiful." A particularly interesting portion of his talk was concerned with the manner in which correct values may be installed in the minds 01 the young people. During the business session, which was presided over by Mrs. H. T. St. George, the club voted unanimously to reorganize the departments in accordance with plans of the N. C. Federation. An | explanation of this work was | made by the president-elect, Mrs. 1 James M. Harper, Jr. * One new member, Mrs. William Hiatt, was voted into the raem jbership of the club. Hostesses were Mrs. C. G. Ruark and Mrs. R. L. Thompson. KINGS DAUGHTERS The Endeavor Circle of Kings Daughters met with Mrs. C. Ed. Taylor for their regular month ly meeting Thursday evening. There were 16 members present and the leader, Mrs. Taylor, was in charge. The meeting opened with hymn "Take Time to be Holy" follow ed by the consecration, then prayer by Mrs. Lou Smith. Mrs. Taylor read a very in teresting article, "Spring," from the "Silver Cross." Hall has returned j to her home in Memphis, Tenn essee, after a week's visit here I with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Norton. Mrs. Ethel Robbins/ of Winna bow, was a surgical patient from Tuesday until Monday. Benson S. Gains, of Section Base, entered on Wednesday as a surgical patient. Mis? Nancy Lou Reeves, of Leland, was a medical patient from Wednesday until Saturday. Baby Bobby Ray Benton, of Winnabow, entered on Wednes day as a medical patient. Mrs. Grissett Is Hostess To Club' The Grissettown Home Dem onstration Club met Monday af ternoon of this week with Mrs, Addie Grissett as hostess. The meeting was called to order by I the president. The song, "The Old! collect wasandting tmee....E (Tht! North State" was sung, the col-1 lect was repeated, roll call wasi made and the minutes of the last' meeting read and approved. The business of the afternoon was taken up and the gathering discussed what would be done through club week. Three new members joined at j this meeting. Miss Corinne Greene led a dis cussion on the preparation of food for freezing and preserva tion and this was followed by a short period of recreation with three games of bingo being play ed. In this Miss Greene was the winner. A delicious course of refresh ments was served by Mrs. Gris sett to the follo|.ving members: Mrs. Bruce Moody, Mrs. J. R. Mintz, Mrs. J. S. Grissett, Mrs. S. D. Grissett, Mrs. P. A. Hewett, Mrs. Norman Grissett, Mrs. G. R. Gore, Miss Greene and one visitor, Mrs. M._ L. Mintz. The club will meet next month with Mrs. P. A. Hewett. He has just recently returned from Hawaii, where he was stationed for two years. Mrs. Hewett Is Hostess To Club The Boons Neck Home Demon stration Club met on Monday, April 5th, with Mrs. Everett Hek ett as hostess. The meeting was opened by singing "The Old North State" and repeating the collect of the Club Women of America. Mrs. Lee Clemmons gave an interesting demonstration on home freezing. Present for the meeting were Miss Corinne Greene, Mrs. Lee | Clemmons, Mrs. Everette Hewett, j Mrs. Varvin Roach, Mrs. B. L. j Bullock, Mrs. Somers Roach, Mrs. I Sidney Hewett, Mrs. W. E. Bel lamy. Before adjournment Mrs. Hew ett served delicious refreshments. The next meeting will be held on May 13, at the home of Mrs. Boyd Lott. Leland News Mrs. R. C. Holmes spent sev eral days recently visiting her sister, Mrs. W. C. Ellis, In Rutherforton. Friends of Mrs. Hattie Riven bark will regret to learn that she is ill and has been a patient in Bullock's Hospital Clinic re cently. Hector Edwards, who has b?en a patient in James Walker Me morial hospital for several weeks has returned to his home and is improving rapidly. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lewis and son, Edward, Jr., spent last Sunday visiting Mrs. Sallie Clark in Mullins, S. C. Harold Wren, of Washington, D. C., spent Sunday visiting friends in Leland.
