Mr. Orenstein is now sta tioned at Groton, Conn., with the Navy. < John Carr Davis, storekeeper, third class, U. S. Navy, is spend ing his leave here with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Davis. He left Monday afternoon for Morgan City, La., to visit friends. Clifford Davis of Mt. Airey spent the past week end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Will Davis. Mrs. Jack Hughes and sons, Eddie and Donnie, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Carr. Miss Jean Evelyn Thompson is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Young, in Savan-; nah, Ga. Ash Resident Dies Saturday Vancc Long Died Saturday At Home Near Ash; Fu neral Services Sunday Af ternoon Vance Long, Waccamaw town ship farmer, died at his home near Ash Saturday and the fun eral services were held Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock from the Philadelphia Wesleyan Meth odist church, with Rev. T. H. Hood in charge of the services. Burial was held in the Bennett cemetery. Mr. Long was 47 years of age. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mable Stanaland Long; three daughters, Edith Catherine and Rebecca Long; a son, George E. Long; his father, C. P. Long; four brothers, Obie, Pate, Leslie and Thurmond Long; one sister, Mrs. Marvin Gore. HOME FOR WEEK END Mrs. F. M. Burdette, who has been at Greenville, S. C., with Dr. Burdett, who is on a month's vacation from his practice here, came home Saturday for the week end. She was accompanied by her little son and her sister, Mrs. J. C.
