Court Defendant
Asks For Story
Usual Thing Is For Man In
Court To Shun Publicity,
But Not Robert L. Stan
ley, Convicted Of Wreck
ing Jail
Every week this paper has to
j gently but firmly refuse to leave
j anything out when it ia found on
the books of the Recorder's court.
In that case everything that goes
in has to come out.
This week there happened a
heretofore unheard of opposite
from the routine. Robert L. Stan
ley, of Shallotte, approached a
reporter with a bill he had re
ceived. The bill was for the sums
of $33.05 for a fine and costs for
being drunk and an additional
$49.45 for wrecking the Bruns
wick county jail where he was
incarcerated for a short time.
"I want you to make a good
long story about it," said Mr.
Stanley. "It was the first time
I ever had a key turned on me."
"Did you wreck the jail?" ask
ed the reporter, referring to the
bill and noting the item for
$49.45 for repairs.
"The Jailer said so," said Mr.
Stanley, "I don't know about it.
All I know Is that they charged,
me 133.05 for getting: locked up i
end $49.45 for repair?."
LIKES HIS BEACH
"Hie family of Guy Boetly, of
Mt. Airy, have a large and well-!
appointed trailer home in which'
to live when they want to go
anywhere. If they choose to do
?o they could spend the lummer
at any or several beaches. They
always pick Holden Beach, how
tver, and are set up for the sum
mer down there row.
