FIRST STRIPED BASS R. O. Walker of Cincinatti,1 Ohio, got the first stripped bass to be reported taken in Lock woods Folly river this fall. The fish was a small one, weighing [ only nine pounds. Norton! is also a resident of Lockwoods! Folly township. He sustained a j bruised face in the encounter and ? is reported to have lost $200.00. Chief of Police Otto Hickman, who arrested Varnum and Gallo way, says that the money was not found on them. VISITING IN PENNSYLVANIA Mrs. Sheppard DeVane of Win- j nabow is visiting her parents in j Ligonler, Pa. Mrs. DeVane was accompanied as far as Petersburg, Va., by Miss Louise Swain, also of Winnabow. She is visiting re latives in Virignia. MANY UP STATE BOATS A large number of up-state shrimp boats are now at South port and are delivering their cat ches among the eight buying houses. For the most part the | boats are only about half the size1 of the big trawlers used here, i However, they are well equipped and the owners are good fisher men. The boats are mostly from Morehead City, Davis and Hark ers Island. TOO MUCH JELLYFISH Commercial fishermen at Hold-' en Beach were complaining this I week at the great number of j jellyfish on their part of the coast.
