Hadacol Helps Textile Workers Stay On The Job The great textile mills of the Carolinas are booming again with shifts working day and night to torn out the nation's finest mate rials, and HADACOL is doing its part to keep folks on the job. Many textile workers have re ported the wonderful relief which has been brought them by HADACOL with its five B vita mins and four important minerals. Two of these workers, a young father employed by the great fannnn Mills at KannaDOlis, N.C., me. I have more appetite and eat what I want to. I feel better than I have in a long time." Mr. Barnhardt and Mrs. Poole were both suffering from a lack of B vitamins and the minerals which HADACOL contains. HADACOL comes to you in liquid form, easily assimilated in the blood stream so that it can go to work right away. A lack of only a small amount of B vitamins and certain min erals will cause digestive disturb and a mother, working at a mill in nearby Salisbury, N. C.. recently told how HAD ACOL had helped keep them on the job. Jay W. Barn- f hardt, Route 3, Box 343, Kan naoolis, N. C., * is 30 years old Mr. Barnhardt and the proud father of two chil dren. His work in the Cannon Mills calls for a great deal of jftanding up. ~"I had been ill for several years," said Mr. Barnhardt as he explained how close he came to having to give up his work. "I suffered with a weak stomach. It became worse and worse with gastric disturbances. I just could not hold food and no fcixi agreed with me. I could not sleep and finally I became so sick that my legs got weak as I worked in the mill each day " Mr. Barnhardt, like so many sufferers, had tried many prepa rations without relief, when he heard about HADACOL "After the second bottle of HADACOL I began to feel better and to regain the weight I had lost," said Mr. Barnhardt "My digestion became normal again and today I am as well as ever. My legs no longer bother me. I eat and enjoy my food. I sleep well and have plenty of energy. Mr. Barnhardt has taken sev eral bottles of HADACOL and now takes the famous vitamin and mineral preparation to help stay well. He has had his wife take it with wonderful results and has recommended it to his friends in the mill. Mrs. Maggie H. Poole, 1503 Caroline Avenue, in Salisbury, if. C, had become so ill that she was forced to give up her work but soon after hearing the won derful news about HADACOL she was back on the job and has been doing swell ever since. "I was tired, weak and nerv ous." said Mrs. Poole. "I suffered indigestion and food didn't agree with me. I also had headacnes. After taking five bottles of HAD ACOL I felt good and was back on the job at the mill. I had tried so many things that the HADA COL news was a real blessing to ances ... Your food will not agree with you . . . You will have an upset stomach . . . You will suffer from heart burn, gas pains and your food will sour on your stonjach and you will nnt hp ahlp to eat the things Mrs. Poole you like for fear of being in mis ery afterwards. Many people also suffer from constipation. And while these symptoms may be the results of other causes, they are surely and certainly the signs of lack of B vitamins and minerals which HADACOL contains. And if you suffer from such a defi ciency disorder, there is no known cure except the adminis tration of the vitamins and min eral, which your system lacks. It is easy to understand, there fore, why countless thousands have been benefited by this amazing tonic, HADACOL. * So it matter# not how old you ire or who ytru are ... it matters not Where you live or if you have tried all the medicines under the sun, give this wonderful prepara tion HADACOL a triaL Don't go on suffering. Don't continue to lead a miserable life. ,Many per sons who have suffered and waited for 10 to 20 years or even longer, are able now to live happy, comfortable lives because HADACOL supplied the vitamins and minerals which their systems needed. Be fair to yourself. Tem porary relief is not enough for you. Give HADACOL a trial! Insist on the genuine HADA COL Don't be misled. Accept no substitute. Sold at all leading drug stores. Trial size only $1.25, but save money; buy the large family and hospital size, only $3.50. The Pirate By: The Three Buccaneers (Kat, Jan and Peg.) No we didn't get lost last week! It was just our careless ness. The Thanksgiving confusion had just begun to settle down and things were just getting back to normal when off to school we went on Monday morning without giving "The Pirate Log' a tho ught. While we were day-dream ing French class Monday, all of a sudden out of the clear blue sky, we remembered "The Pirate Log" at home waiting to be mail ed. When school was out we rush ed home to mail it but, as we thought, it was too lite. Monday the Block "S" club met and discussed plans for ord ering their new sweaters. The "Jolly Roger" staff met and discussed plans for getting adds. So far, they have covered Shallotte, Supply and Whiteville. t Tuesday night the annual bas ketball banquet for the players and cheerleaders throughout the county was held at Bolivia. TTie gymnasium was decorated with pines. The players knew their places by the color of their place mats, which were in the different school colors. Each person was seated between two players from different schools. Delicious ham was served as the main dish and for desert we were served ice cream and cookies. Talks were made by principal Talmades Page, che Rev. R. H. Caudill and Sup erintendent J. T. Denning. Eeach group of players sang their school song and some of them did a stunt. The cheer-leaders from all the schools did a yell for their AMUZU THEATRE SOUTHPORT, N. C. i 1 Admission ? 14c and 30c Two Shows Nightly ? Effective October S, ? 1st Show will start at 7:00 P. M. A novel idea in Christmas cards is be ing carried out this season with the Southport Woman's Club sponsoring the sale of greeting cards of Southport Scenes. The original pen drawings were done by Art New USE OF THREE-CENT STAMPS IS ADVISED BY POSTMASTER One And One-Half Cent Va riety Is No Good And Two Cent Stamp Is Poor Substi tute On Greeting Cards Postmaster Burnice Russ of the WhiteviUe Post Office today warned against trying to mail Christmas cards this year with one and one-half cent stamps. By way of explanation he point ed out that the postage rate on unsealed greeting cards, which travel by third class mail, was raised to 2c last January. So don't try to mail this year's Yule greetings with lMc stamps left over from last Christmas, he cautioned. All sorts of embarras sing things may happen. Your mail carrier may return the cards to you stamped, "In sufficient Postage." Or they may be held until the addressee supplies the additional postage required by the new law before the mysterious envelope ? which turns out to be your "Merry Christmas" wish? may be delivered to him. Or your cards may be shunted into the Dead Letter Office, if they're deposited at the peak of the Christmas mailing rush and they bear no return address. To preserve your cheery Christ mas cards from these indignities, the postmaster recommends sending them all by first class mail. That means with a 3c stamp ? or two IV2C stamps! First class mail rates "direc tory service," by which skilled post office clerks try to trace down addresses who have moved. Your card may be forwarded from one address to another. If the addressee isn't located, the card will come back to you if the' envelope bears your return ad dress. Christmas cards carrying 2c stamps are third class mail. They must not be sealed and must not contain personal messaged. Only one effort is made to deliver them. If the address proves in complete or incorrect, your warm hearted Christmas greetings land in the Dead Letter Office. "One of the saddest sights on Christmas Eve," says the post master, "are the many undeliver able Christmas cards. Each re presents a bit of lost Yuletide sentiment. Practically all are the result of carelessness. Especially illegible handwriting, inadequate addresses, and stamps that fall school. After it was over every one stayed awhile to talk. Wednesday passed just about like any other/normal day at Shal lotte. Everybody went to classes as usual, and the basketball ban quet was discussed, of course. Wednesday evening the girls pra cticed basketball and Wednesday night the boys practiced. Friday evening the basketball teams divided into groups and played a game between themselv es. In last week's Priate Log, which wasn't mailed until too late, we told you the name of the Bophomore class officers. Hiey are: President: Bunky Bellamy: Vice-President: Carolyn Smith; Secretary: Scott McKeithan; Treasurer: Richmond Galloway. Louise Hewett with bangs. They're cute, and the best thing in that you don't have to roll them. ? And everyone talking a bout their grades. So long, until next week. off enroute because they weren't affixed properly. "Please address v plainly and completely," he emphasizes. "Give the full name, house number, street, name of city, zone num ber, and State. Many emergency clerks and carriers are required j to handle the heavy Christmas load, and they haven't time or ! experience to figure out scrawled addresses that would puzzle a bjjl collector." And don't forget to write your return address on the envelope. The postmaster said return ad- 1 dresses on Christmas cards has j the warm approval of the high- j est authorities on etiquette, be- J cause it helps friends keep their address books up-to-date. Cards receive more consider- j ate handling if they're mailed be for the peak Christmas rush, the postmaster pointed out. Greetings for out-of-State delivery should be j posted by December 15, and for local delivery at least a week be- . fore Christmas.
