Such plant ings made by old district cooper ators during previous years are now paying off by supplying food and cover to quail during these critical early spring months when food is scarce on the average farm. Tucker, Jr. Congress Nominee Whiteville Attorney Will Carry Republican Banner In No vember Election Against Democratic Candidate; Maultsby Is Reelected Congressional District Chairman Irvin B. Tucker, Jr., young Whiteville attorney, was selected Friday to carry the Republican barfner in the Seventh District congressional race agajnst the Democratic incumbent, F. Ertel Caryle of Lumberton. A son of Whitevillc's lale dis tinguished barrister, Irvin B. Tucker, Sr., who was a Republi can nominee for Lieutenant Gov ernor of North Carolina in J924, a U. S. District Attorney, and later member of the U. S. Parole Commission, young Tucker was nominated at the biennial district convention in Elizabethtown. Josiah A. Maultsby, Sr. of Whiteville, district GOP chairman, presided at the opening of the meeting but named J. O. West of Dunn as chairman. Accepting the nomination, Nominee Tucker pledged himself to an intensive and aggressive campaign. Maultsby was reelected district chairman and Mrs. Lillian Rogers of Wilmington was named vice chairman. Others elected to serve with Maultsby were Claude H. Pope, Jr., of Dunn, R. E.
