The B- Hite
(BY LEE & MAN'DYI
Hi there! This nice weather
makes one feel like spring is
just around the corner, doesn't
it?
Well at last we ran forget
basketball for a whole year. But
before we forget it, we want to
say “Congratulations, Boys." We
are really proud of them for win
ning second place in the Star
News Tournament. We hope they
can do just as good, or better
next year.
We also want to congratulate
Jimmy Varnum for making the
All-Star team, which is quite an
honor. .There were two more boys
chosen fiom Brunswick county
also. It seems that our county
ranks first in producing all-star
basketball players.
The main topic around Bolivia
high this week is the Beta Club
Convention in Raleigh. Miss Mill
er, Miss Stokes an* three Club
members, Doris Anderson, Nora
Mae Mills and Ethel Purvis, at
tended. They left Friday after
noon, right after school, and
came back on Sunday. They at
tended the talent show, the ban
quet and the dance. We know
they had a wonderful time and
we wish all of us could have gone.
We would like to take this
opportunity to extend to Evelyn
Evans of Leland our congratu
lations for winning in the con
test for the Azelea Princess from

of the year when at the half the
score was tied at 15 to 15. At
the end Southport turned up on

The Pirate
By: The Three Buccaneers
(Kat, Jan and Peg.)
What a week! Everything has
happened. , . f , ■>’
Tuesday there was a ballgame
between the Waccamaw and Shal
lotte junior varsity' teams at
Shallotte. The Lady Pirates took
over by a score of 33 to 24 while
the Shallotte boys trounced the
opposing team bv a score' of 33
to 6.
Wednesday there was an ama
teur program. In the grammar
grades Mrs. Clara Mae Russ' thirc?
grade .won first prize with the
“Hula Dance’’ and Mrs. Sabiston’s
sixth grade won second prize with
the song "Topsy Turvy”. A quar
tet of boys from Mrs. Mc'Keith
an’s eleventh grade won first
prize in high school; while Mrs.
Russ’ seniors captured the second
prize with a solo by Geraldine
Cox.
These programs have been put
on to raise money for the gym
dressing rooms. Besides these
there have been cake walks the
whole week.
Friday there was a movie star
ring Joe E. Brown.
We sure would iike to extend
our congratulations to the three
boys in Brunswick who were
chosen to be on the Star-News
Dream Team. We were also very
glad to hear that our neighboring
schools who entered the tourna
ment did very well.
Monday night at the Legion
Hut the Brunswick county at
tendant for the Azalea princess
was chosen. As you probably have
already heard it was Evelyn
Evans of Leland. Second placp
went to Gloria Hewett of South
port and third place went to
Marie Fulford of Shallotte.
We sure wish the unwelcomed
visitor who is coming in the
gymnasium and lunch room at
night would be a little bit more
decent and ask if there is any
thing he wants instead of taking
it. We’re sure that if he would
stop to realize what he is doing
he would stop immediately.
Friday the Block “S” club
members drank the rest of the
cokes which were left over from
the tournament.
Seen Around: Mr. Carmicheal’s

body talking about so many tests
. . . And the boys talking about
their first game of baseball which
is March 24.
Guess that’s all the news for
this time so be good until next
week.
