An interesting program was j put on by the following Glenda j Manor, Patsy Ward, William j Knox, Malcolm Knox. Maude Lee j McKeithan, Franklin Mercer and j Betty Jean Gilbert. Patsy Ward was presented a I medal by Miss Agnes Potter, the j music teacher, for being the most outstanding music pupil of the school. PERSONALS Mrs. Pearce Cranmer and son, Bill, leave tomorrow to spend several days in Monroe with Mr. Cranmer, who recently purchased and is now operating the Car olina Laundry at that place. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Olson and son, of Charleston, Mrs. Rosa Wirth and son and Mrs. Willie Keoper of Mt. Pleasant, S. C., spent the week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. F. Mollycheck. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Moore of Orlando, Fla. are visiting re latives here for a few days. Ed Marlowe, member of the crew of the U. S. E. Dredge Ly man. is spending a few days here with his family. Mrs. Flora Prevatte of Red Springs spent the week-end here with friends. Butler Thompson of Lumberton [spent the week-end here with his mother, Mrs. J. W. Thompson. Mrs. Paul Fodale and children are visiting relatives in Boston. Mr. Fodale expects to go to Bos ton and bring' them home the j later part of next week. MACKEREL MOVING IN Reports received here are to the effect that great schools of large bluefish and Spanish mack erel were spotted Monday at and below Tubbs Inlet moving along up the coast. They are expected to be off Southport before the end of this week. DeVane of Fayette ville has bought a lot adjoining his Long Eeach home and plans to start construction on a large apartment building in the near future. GOOD LUCK AND BAD County Commissioner R. L. Rabon, renominated Saturday to succeed himself, had a run of very hard luck the week preceed ing the primary. Mrs. Rabon was brought to the hospital and under went an operation early in the I week. Three days later, Thomas Rabon, 26 year old son of Com missioner and Mrs. Rabon, was [stricken ill and brought to the i hospital where he was operated on. Mr. Rabon stated yesterday that both his wife and son seem to be getting along alright. GOES TO PENDER COUNTY Miss Frances Coble, case work er with the welfare department for the past year and acting superintendent of welfare for the past several months, has resign ed, effective July 1.
