Hughes of the Ash community gave a delightful birthday party on December 13, that being the 68th birthday of Mrs. Hughes. Present were Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Walton, Mr. and Mrs. J. I. .Tenrette, Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Norris, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Bel lamy, Percy1 Hughes, Mrs. Loula Hughes, Ernest Bellamy, Mrs. Fong, Mrs. Thelton Hardee, Mrs. L. N. Hickman. Mr. Hughes re ceived many valuable presents and his guests departed singing and shouting: “We were not in vited but we came anyhow. Hap py birthday to you.” Celebrates Birthday Miss Barbara Johnson was hon ored on her 15th birthday at a party given by her mother, Mrs. Alton Johnson, at their home on Wednesday, December 12. She received many lovely gifts. Games were played aand refreshments of her birthday cake, ce cream and candy were served to the following present: Trudy McNeil, Jackie Larsen, Libby Caster, Marcia Dilsaver, Stuart Arring ton, Janice Trunnell, Lattia Hick man, Norman McDowell and Jerry Spencer. Davenport-Mall ison Relatives and friends in South port were taken by surprise this week by the announcement of the marriage of Miss Lou Gil liam Mallison of Southport to Thomas Davenport of Sanford. Tire marriage took place on October 13 and the young couple are now spending their honey moon in Tampa, Fla. Mrs. Da venport is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Mallison and has been a student in the Southport high school. Mr. Davenport is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Davenport of Sanford and Long Beach.
