Bear Tracks By Beta Club Members MARY WILLETTS and STANLEY KNOWLES It was beyond our control that we didn’t have an article in the paper last week. We won another football game Thursday evening. We played Shallotte JV’s and won by a score of 16-6. Here is a run down of the game. The Pirates scored their first and only touchdown in the first quarter. Long, the Pirate quarterback, shoved over from 4-yards out for six points. The extra point was not made because “of the Bears hard-hitting line. The Bears were carrying the Pirates backward all through the game. On the 4th play from scrimmage the Pirates fumbled the ball back behind their own goal line to give the Bears their first two points on a safety. In the second quarter Danny Mitchell scored the first touch down for the Bears with a short run of about G-yards. Teammate Jerry Moore ran the'extra point. Roy Harvell covered the ball for the Bears on a fumble. Further on in the game Thomas Howard scored the second TD and the extra point. The Bears quarter back Carter Rabon was sparking .ijntil the end of the game. Danny Mitchell, fullback for the Bears, 1 was outstanding on both defense =i wnd offense. Long, quarterback for the Pirates, was also out standing on defense and offense. ii< (Crowded Out Last Week) .. Wall, we did it again. That is we won another football game. The Bears triumphed over Tabor •i:City JV’s 7-0. In the first quar ter the Bears worked very slow, •j all except Thomas Howard, Jerry i Moore, and Carter Rabon in the backfield. Tabor City JV’s work ed hard all the game but couldn’t do anything with the Bears. Bru ton of TC caught 6 passes from ,, Quarterback Anderson, who play . ed an outstanding game on both defense and offense. The one and only touchdown scored was made by the Bears’ quarterback, Carter Rabon, who ran seven ya rds on the fourth down on a j .quarterback sneak. Extra good „ blocking was done by the Bear lineman. In the line David Phil lips and John Naylor; in the back " field Danny Mitchell, Thomas Ho •* .ward and Jerry Moore were out standing on defense for the Be Srs. Lewis Harvell and Donald Willetts were outstanding on of ■ fense. We have three more games. Two are at home, one away. The games are Shallotte JVs Thurs day at 1:30, here.
