Nice Trout Caught
On Fishing Pier
Dr. Franklin Delaney, professor
of City College. New York, was
fishing from the Yaupon Beach
pier Friday morning and landed
a beautiful 310 pound speckled
trout. /
a number of tlje speckled
t iflm have been caught* by others
fishing from the pier during the
past few weeks. These catches
during the summer can be taken
as a sure indication that with
the approach of fail the waters
around the pier will become alive
with the speckled trout. The
pier is located in an area that
has always been acclaimed as a
favorite gathering place for this
variety of fish. They are usually
there in great numbers during
the cooler summer months of
the year.
The pier is proving to be a big
drawing card for visitors to
Yaupon Beach. Dr. Delaney re
mained all of last week and
made several nice catches in ad
dition to trout.

Most Modem, Shortest Stroke V8V
in any leadinq truck!
Stroke 3.0

Oversquare design—ultra-short

Here’s the measure of
a truly modern V8
engine—Chevrolet’s
advanced oversquare
design. It means less
friction . .. longer
engine life!
Here are more dollar-saving reasons why new
Chevrolet trucks offer you the most modern
V8’s* your money can buy!
MODERN 12-VOLT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
You get double the punch for quicker start
ing (up to 30 percent faster cranking speed)
and a hotter, fatter spark for more efficient
ignition.
GAS-SAVING HIGH-COMPRESSION RATIO
With a high 7.5 to 1 compression ratio,
Chevrolet’s new V8 truck engines squeeze
extra power-and work—out of every tank
ful of gas.
EXTRA-HIGH POWER PER POUND
Since these V8’s deliver high power per
pound of engine weight, more of the power
is actually available for hauling.
ADVANCED AIRCRAFT-TYPE VALVES
Valves function independently, as in mod
ern aircraft engines. Valve action is more
positive at all speeds for finer, smoother
performance.
FLOATING OIL INTAKE . . . FULL-PRESSURE
LUBRICATION
New floating oil intake selects the cleanest
oil for engine lubrication. Full-pressure
lubrication system provides positive protec
tion for vital engine parts . . . extends en
gine life.
*V8 standard in the new L.C.F. models, an extra
cost option in all others except Forward-Control
models.
