SUMMER
SNOOPER
BY LOLA MAE GORE
“Come on Baby, Let's do the
Twist”, and that sure sounds like
a good deal to me! How about
you? That song has really made
a hit with the maioritv of us,
as the beat is great to dance to.
It sure has been plaved a few
times in the last 2 weeks at the
pavilion along with “All For The
Love of a Girl”, “Endlessly”,
“Personal'tv", “Tit’s All In The
Game”, “Say Bossman”, “Sevic
Cruise” and manv other favorites.
While on the subject of music,
I would like to say that this
week-end was reallv a success!
Fridav and Saturday nights were
swinging with almost everyone
present. I heard quite a few com
ments that this week-end was the
best yet, and I agree. I hope it
continues to be like this for the
next 3 months.
Sunday night was in many ways
one of the most entertaining we’ve
had in a long time. About 9
o'clock everyone was sitting
around gabbing when in walked
4 strangers. Pretty soon the place
was “reeling and rocking” as they
were really putting on a show for
us. It seems that they are Ma
rines stationed at Leieune and
they are entertainers and put on
shows for the troops. It appeared
that they were all from New
York, and after a few laughs
Butch went over to the juke box
and played “Yankee Go Home”

They were very nice and they
liked quaint little Southport and
good rocking: Lons: Beach so much
they intend to visit regularly.
Sunday afternoon proved verv
interesting, too. Donna. Leda and
I were sitting on the beach when
im walked Puddinhead. Harrison
and Skeeter and with them wa.s
a sail host built bv .Tohnnv Bar
bee and Skeeter. Before 1otw they
were out in the Atlantic drifting
South. After a while they docked
and captured Leda. She had to
ride on the new invention. For
some unknown reason the boat
kept turning over and when Leda
finally returned about an hour
later she was ice blue. The last
we saw of the boys they were
headed for Burmuda. The auestion
still remains: What will they
think of next?

By BEULAH H. FARRELL
With schools out now all over

crowded with summer visitors.
Fishing has been good with catch

good catches of spots, whiting,

off Long Beach and Yaupon piers.
On Long Beach pier one day last
