McRackan, Associa tional Missionary and Jubilee Chairman of the local Society for the coming year, challenged the group to greater efforts for the new church year, looking forward to Baptists’ Third Jubilee celebra tion in 1964 of 150 years of Bap tist witness on the North Amer ican continent. FormyDuval at the Bolton Meth odist Church of Bolton on Aug ust. 30. The Rev. H. N. Ward of Roanoke Rapids performed the ceremony at 3:00 p .m. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnie Vereen, Sr. of Bolton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Formy Duval of Route 4, Whiteville. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a gown of white bridal satin with empire lines and a trapez train. The bride made her dress. Her finger tip veil of illusion was attached to a crown of seed pearls and sequins. She carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley centered with an orchid. Mrs. Johnie Vereen, Jr. of Southport, sister-in-law of the bride, served as matron of honor. Her dress was of light blue taf feta with a fitted bodice and a full skirt. She wore a bandeau of matching material. She car ried a bouquet of pink carnations arranged on a blue net fan which matched her dress. Miss Martha Barefoot of Halls boro was maid of honor. Her dress, similar to the matron of honor, was of gold taffeta. She wore a gold bandeau to match. She carried a similar bouquet of gold chrysanthemums. Miss Mollie Worrell of Chad bourn, college roommate of the bride, and Miss Linda Gore of Clarendon, cousin of the groom, were bridesmaids. They wore identical dresses of royal blue taffeta and matching bandeaus. They carried blue net fans topped with white carnations. Miss Cheri Gore of Clarendon. flower girl and cousin of the groom, wore a pink crystalette dress with a pink flower bandeau. She carried a basket of rose petals Master Johnie Vereen, III of Southport, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Jack FormyDuval, brother of the groom, served his brother as with the theme being “Ye Are the Light of the World—Go Ye, Therefore”. The upper room was beautifully decorated with flags of all na tions and centerpieces depicting the Union’s basic objective of “World Awareness”. We also would like to welcome all of our new students to Southport High School. This year Southport High offers a new 3-hour subject for the boys. It is the Marine Industrial course. We also have a new build ing over next to our gym, for this class. The boys seem to enjoy this very much. Mr. Bowmer is j the teacher. The students of this school have been issued student cards to get in the movies at a special price. We appreciate this very much and we want to thank Mr. I Furpless for doing us this favor.! Our boys have been practicing for football, and it looks like we will have a good team. Work hard, Boys, and we’ll be rooting for you. Be sure and go to our first game this Friday night. One of the most important pro jects of the year for the junior class is the re-e3tablishment of the school library which was in quite a state of shambles. Shelves were missing and most of the books are just simply beyond re pair. With the help of Mrs. Glore, the junior home-room teacher, a small number of the junior class got started on this project Sat urday morning. Windows were scrubbed and various other things were done. The library really looks a lot better.
