Bear Gridiron
In First Game

BOLIVIA—The first game of
the new season between members
of the Border Belt Conference,
an 8-man loop, will be played
here Friday night at 8 o’clock,
when Bolivia’s Bears host the
Acme-Delco Trojans in a non
conference contest.
It will not only be Bolivia's
first game of the season, but
will also be their first game in
8-man gridiron competition. The
Bears, coached by Frank Hogg, |
are one of the two new entries
in the 8-man conference.
“Eye-Opener”
The tilt will serve well for
both Hogg and Acme-Delco’s new
coach, James Denton, to see just
what their teams have in prospect
for the coming of the official
BBC schedule, which opens a
week later.
Coach Hogg, a veteran of four
years here, has a total of 12
lettermen who played 11-man
football under him in 1959. But,
according to weights listed by him
on his charges, he will have a
somewhat light group with which
to play his BBC slate,
Unexpected Losses
He had 17 lettermen expected
to return, but one senior is in
eligible and four other seniors
due to be on hand joined the

From Acme-Delco, Coach Den
ton has said he will probably send
a group of eight lettermen into
the fray with Bolivia. He also
reported the return of Mac Cole,
160-pound starting center of last
year, to the Trojan squad. Cole
had said he would attend New
Hanover High in Wilmington this
year, but has returned to the
Trojan fold.

who has been troubled with a bad
knee.
