Senior Baseball
Star Series Set
GREENWOOD, S. C.—a Carol
inas Senior All-Star Baseball ser
ies is planned for Greenwood
Stadium on June 15, 16, 17, 1961.
Plans for the setto were an
nounced here by Clemson College
Baseball Coach Bill Wilhelm, who
said it would pit a team of seniors
from North Carolina against a
similar club of South Carolinians.
Wilhem stated the method of
selecting the pleyers has not yet
been determined.
Greenwood American Legion
Post 20 will sponsor the series
and Wilhelm will coach the S. C.
team; with Walter Rabb, Univer
sity of North Carolina diamond
mentor, coaching the .Tar Heels.
Wilhelm expressed hopes of
seeing 16 or 17 seniors from each
state participating. He said it
was planned to rotate the
coaches assignments among co
llege coaches in the two states
from year to year.
A Marine Corps pilot was the
first to successfully loop a sea
plane, a feat considered impos
sible until it was done.
