Southport Boys Down Leland In Final Second Of Contest LELAND — Southport’s Dol phins used a neat three-man combination here, Tuesday night, to win a thrilling, 57-56 decision over the Leiand Tigers in the final second of their important Brunswick County Conference game. By virtue of the win, South port took over first-place in the conference male race. Leland's girls moved into the lead spot in their own Brunswick loop chase with an opening win of 55-48, over the Cady Dolphins of South port. The margin of the Southport boys’ win brought back memories of last year’s tournament upset by Coach Pete Lee’s quint. The Dolphins defeated Leland in the tourney finals by the identical score as that by which they won here, Tuesday night—57-56. It looked as if Coach Nelson Best’s boys would grab a nar row one-point victory over the Dolphins as Southport called time out with Leland leading, 56-55.
