Ken. a Kentuckian, had not been living at Southport long when, about two years ago, they called him from the ter minal to “pick up the State Port Pilot.” ' Poteet went rushing along the riverside for a solid hour, trying to locate a river pilot employed, perhaps, by either the state or the U. S. Army, or so Ken thought. Finally some one suggested that the Army wanted a copy of the latest local newspaper. So Poteet happily carried to Sun ny Point the latest news. Fishing Is Good Following Blow Operations Interrupted Dur ing Past Week-End But Monday Catches Were Encouraging Fishing picked up at Southport Tuesday following a weekend of bad weather that brought a tem porary recess to some of the most spectacular catches made here this season. Capt. Hoyle Dosher had the Baker party of Greenville, S. C., out aboard the Idle On IV and they caught 45 king mackerel, 13 Spanish mackerel, 21 honito, 3 barracuda and 1 amberjack. Out with Capt. H. A. Schmidt aboard the Idle On III was J. B. Marlowe and party of York, S. C. They had 32 king mackerel, 2 amberjack, 1 barracuda, 4 Spanish mackerel and I bonito. A party fishing with Capt. Dick Skipper aboard the Ava Kay had 50 bluefish and Spanish mackerel. Two other boats had good catches, which were not reported in details.
