WaccamawAA Slate Begins A 30-doubleheader schedule is included in the 1962 Waccamaw Athletic Association basketball season which opened Tuesday night. The 1962 WAA cage card, as released by President J. W. Black of Bladenboro, will be found else where in this issue today. Friday finds Tabor City in White ville, Elizabethtown at Bladenboro and Shallotte at Chadbourn. All bills will begin with 7 p. m. girl contests. Shallotte Downs Bolivia In Pair BOLIVIA—Judy Golden tallied 32 points as her Shallotte Lady Bucs whipped Bolivia’s Lady Bruins, 55-33, here, Friday night and Robert Galloway continued his fine play by tallying 25 mark ers for the Shallotte boy Pirates in their 82-32 triumph over the local Bears. Top Bolivia point-makers were Aveline Skipper with 23 and David Cook with 17. Phfdns Mrs. Rivenbark Is Buried On Tuesday BOLIVIA—Mrs. A. B. Riven-' bark, 78, of Bolivia, died early Sunday at Dosher Memorial Hos pital, Southport, after a long ill ness. She was a native of Pender County. Final rites were held Tuesday at 2 p. m. from Cora’s Grove Freewill Baptist Church by the Rev. King Brown, with burial in Rivenbark family cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Cleveland and James Rivenbark, both of Bolivia; a daughter, Mrs. Ketha Ray Kirby of Bolivia; 19 grandchildren and nine great granchlidme. Glarkton Wins CLARKTON — Coach Edwin Elkins’ Clarkton Lady Warriors tripped Waccamaw’s Eaglettes, 63-17, here, Friday night and Coach Harold Ingram’s Warrior boys copped their 7th win in 8 games by downing the Eagles, 68-46. High scorers included Marilyn Byrd with 20, Judy Carey with L4, W. C. Daniels, 25, and Conley McEwen, 15, all for Clarkton; and Waccamaw’s Diane Ward with 7, Earl Hughes with 15 and Verm Hughes with 14. Barrow Show Final plans have been made and facilities are being readied for the Second Annual North Carolina Barrow Show which will be held in the Johnston County Livestock Arena, Smithfield, February 19, 20, and 21 of 1962. This event is being sponsored by the Johnston Livestock Mu tual, Inc. in cooperation with the N. C. Agricultural Extension ser vice. This will be the second barrow show and all breed pure bred show and sale ever held in North Carolina. Last years show was limited to all swine pro ducers, purebred and commercial, in North Carolina. The coming show and sale is open to world competition. The show will consist of in dividual barrows, pen of three barrows, pen of five barrows, and carcass barrows on February 20. A breeding stock show of fall barrows and gilts will be held on the morning of February 21. Oil industry research has pro duced a robot resembling a small Army tank, for use in painting ships and storage tanks. The machines save time and expense.
