High Times By .JOAN FINER Here we are again, starting the new year off with a bang. Everyone enjoyed the holidays and is waiting for the next break. Everyone seems to have had a nice Christmas. The students are studying for mid-term exams which will be this Thursday and Friday. I hope everyone passes with flying colors. The first ball game this year was with Waccamaw Tuesday night. We play the Bolivia Bears this Friday night here. We wish to welcome our new teacher, Mr. Ray, to Southport High School. He is our new 6tli1 grade teacher. Seen Around: Steve changing his mind*. . . The grade mothers of the school were entertained during a coffee hour on December 14. During this meeting officers were elected for the group. Mr. Edgar Gore, science instructor, explained the science program in our school, after which several students gave science demonstrations and ex plained each demonstration to the group. Principal Clemmons made some very interesting remarks about the plans for the school which were enthusiastically re ceived by all present. , The Student Council, under the guidance of their advisor Mr. Joseph A. Morris, distributed their annual Christmas baskets to the needy in the Lincoln district. We know at Lincoln that the real meaning of Christmas can only be obtained by giving to those who are less fortunate than we are. Principal Clemmons informed the faculty and studentbody that the boys basketteam recently re ceived new uniforms. The uni forms came in time for the team to play Williston’s Junior Varsity. The uniforms are maroon and gray. The jackets have a large grey leopard's head on the back.
