during Monday’s session of Bruns
wick County Recorder’s Court,
with Judge W. E. Bellamy, Jr.,
presiding and Solicitor A. H.
Gainey, Jr., prosecuting:
Agnue Thomas drew 90 days:
for drunken driving with sen
tence suspended on surrender of
driver’s license ’ and a fine of
$100 and costs. Thomas appealed.
Nathan West asked for jury
trial on a speeding charge and
was bound over to Superior Court
under $100 bond.
William H. Bryant was taxed
with the r-sts for failing to dim
lights.
John A. Batten, Jr., requested
jury trial on a drunk driving
charge and was bound over to
Superior Court under $200 bond, j
Charles Eversoie drew 30 days
for public drunkenness. Eversoie
appealed.
Bob L. Farmer was taxed with
the costs for driving with expired
chauffeur's i.^ense.
Bobby W. Flowers was taxed
with the costs as a litterbug.
Bessie M. Cause paid $25 and
costs for driving without license.
Jerome M. Gerbin forfeited
bond on a reckless driving charge.

Haynes I. Evans was taxed
with the costs for failing to dis
play registration and one-half of
costs remitted.

pay costs of action.
Arnold Leo Hewett asked for
jury trial on charges of driving
drunk, no driver’s license and fail
ing to display tags, and was
bound over to Superior Court un
der $300 bond.
John Jenrette paid $20 and
costs for speeding.
Robert Calvin Smith paid $35
and costs for driving without li
cense and failing to display prop
er registration.
Hoyt Todd was taxed with the
costs for failing to dim lights.
J. D. Evans received prayer
for judgment continued on an
assault with deadly weapon
charge, on condition he not molest
complaining witness and remain
of good behavior for 2 years,
plus the costs of the action.
Mary Griffin drew a nol pros
with leave on a worthless check
charge.
John Henry Finney paid $10
and costs for speeding.
Henderson Gore was taxed with
the costs for driving with im
proper equipment.
Fred Hooper was fined $10 and
costs for driving too, fast for road
conditions and fine remitted.
Woodus Edward Mins was fin
ed $10 and costs for failing to
yield right-of-way and fine re
mitted.
Weston Levis drew 6 months
on the roads for issuing a worth
less check, with sentence suspend
ed on restitution of $200, plus the
costs of action.
Robert L. Cooper drew 6
months on roads for driving af
ter license revoked, with sentence
suspended on condition that he
not drive until licensed again,
and payment of the costs.
Raymond Johnson drew 60 days
for driving without license, with
out liability insurance Rnd With
improper registration, with sen
tence suspended on condition he
not operate motor vehicle until
lawful provisions met and pay
a fine of $25 and costs. Costs
remitted.
Maggie Stone Smith paid $25
and costs for driving without li
cense.
Calvin Robinson, Jr., paid $10
and costs for speeding.
Nero Gause. charged with driv
ing after license revoked, asked ;
for jury trial and was bound over
to Superior Court under $250
bond. i
Johnnie L. Robbins drew 15 |,

tus for the manufacture of illicit ;
spirits, with sentence suspended
on condition he not violate any
laws for 3 years and pay a fine i
of $250 and costs.

vehicle.
John W. Newton paid $10 and
costs for driving too fast for road 1
conditions.
Herbert M. Johnson, Sr., was

Henry Sam Sutler paid $10 and
costs on a speeding charge.
Ottis Alvin King drew 90 days
on roads for drunken driving with
sentence suspended on condition
license surrendered and payment
of $100 and costs. King appealed
the ruling.
Irvin E. Claytor, Jr., paid $25
and costs for possession of non
tax paid whiskey.
Artee Gs’'se drew 90 days for
drunken driving with sentence
suspended upon revocation of li
cense and a fine of $100 and
costs. Gause appealed.
Robert Hardy was fined $25
and costs for careless driving
and $15 of fine remitted.
Emory Lee Russell was sen
tenced to 18 months on the roads
for driving after license revoked,
and sentence suspended on con
dition he not drive until license
returned, plus a fine of $200 and
costs.
Veneral J. Holden was found
not guilty of reckless operation
and no probable cause was found
as to manslaughter charge be
ing instituted.
Herbert C. Hewett paid $35
and costs for reckless operation
and possession of tax-paid whis
key.
James Marlow asked for jury
trial on charges of reckless opera
tion and manslaughter and was
bound over to Superior Court
under $1,000 bond.
David O. Ruark paid $10 and
costs for public drunkenness and
possession of tax-paid whiskey.
William R. Varnum asked for
jury trial on charges of public
drunkenness and possession of
tax-paid whiskey and was bound I

SHALLOTTE — Mrs. Olen L.
Cox, 74. of Shallotte, died Sun
day in Conway, S. C. hospital
after a long illness. She was the
former Miss Martha Todd.
Final rites were held Monday
at 3 p. m. from Simpson Creek
Baptist Church by the Revs. Lane
j Horne and Gardner Mishoe. with
burial in Carter Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband;
two sins, Osborn Cox of Shallotte
and Elmer Cox of Columbia, S.
C.; five daughters, Mrs. Lula
Hardee and Mrs. Mary Prince,
both of Loris, S. C., Mrs. Vir
[ ginia Williamson, Mrs. Albprta
Tatum and Mrs. Geraldine Nor
ris, all of Shallotte; a brother,
Onnen Todd of Loris. S. C.; and
! three sisters, Mrs. W. L. Mc

Hardison and Mrs. Gilmore Ed
