The marriage of Miss Barbara
Jean Willetts, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph B. Willetts of
Winnabow, to David Phillip Lan
caster, son of Mr. ahd Mrs. Snode
Lancaster of Supply, was solem
nized June 24 at four-thirty in
the afternoon at the Mill Creek
Kaptist Church.
The Rev. Larry McClure offi
ciated at the double-ring cere
mony.
Music was presented by Mrs.
R. S. Willetts, pianist, and by Guy
Willetts, vocalist.
Given in marriage by her fath
er, the bride wore a floor-length
gown of white silk organza with
alencon lace trim. It was fashion
ed with a scalloped neckline

trimmed with seed pearls and had
long tapered sleeves. Her finger
tip veil of French Illusion fell
from a crown of seed pearls and
sequins. She carried a lace fan
trimmed with mums and carna
tions and centered with an orchid.
Mrs. Norma Jean Maness, of
Fayetteville, sister of the groom,
was Matron of Honor. She wore
an aqua sheath dress with an
overskirt of white embroidered
organdy and a tiara hat with
matching circular veil. She car
ried a lace and tulle fan trimmed
with pink carnations and glad
iolas with matching streamers.
Bridesmaids were Misses Linda
Kay, Sandra and Susan Potter
of Southport, cousins of the bride.
They wore street length dresses
of nylon over taffeta with match
ing lace jackets and matching
mits. They wore headpieces and
carried bouquets identical to that
of the honor attendant.

da Gail Robinson, of Supply, niece

of their daughter, Mary Melanie,
to 2nd. Lt. Frederick Michael
Banks, son of Major and Mrs. J.
A. Eaton, residents of Ft. Caswell
Beach.
The wedding took place at
Saint Barnabas Church at Glen
wood Springs, Colorado, at seven
o'clock on June 6. Best man was
Mr. Larry Banks, brother of the
groom.
After a honeymoon at Lake
Tahoe, Nevada, they returned to
the Air Force base at Lubbock,
Texas, where LL Banks is pres
ently stationed.

cousin of the bride.
Debra Bowling of Bolivia was
flower girl. Ring bearer was J. B.
Willetts, brother of the bride.
Robert Greene of Pinebluff, N.
C. served as best man. Ushers
were Robert Willetts of Atlanta,

lotte, John Arthur and Larry
Potter of Southport and Kenneth
Willetts of Winnabow.
For her daughters wedding
Mrs. Willetts chose an afternoon
sheath dress of blue eyelet em
broidered chiffon over taffeta
with matching accessories. She
wore a corsage of pink carna
tions.
The groom’s mother wore a
dress of blue lace with matching
accessories. She wore a corsage
of pink carnations.
Wicker pony carts were used
to carry the wedding party to the
reception. These were furnished
by Foster Robbins of Winnabow.
Following the wedding a recep
j tion was held at the home of
! the bride. Miss Louise Potter pre
sided at the brides book. In the
; dining room the table was cover
I ed with a cloth of outwork linen.
The table arrangement was of
white carnations and gladiolas.
Mrs. Joyce Robinson and Mrs.
Bryant Potter presided at the
punch bowl, and Mrs. H. A. Liv
ingston served the five tiered
wedding cake. Mrs. Ralph Potter
and Mrs. Frank Potter also as
sisted in serving.
The bride is a gi’aduate of Bo
livia High School and attended
; Miller-Motte Business College and
j is now employed with the Wac
camaw Bank and Trust at Shal
lotte.
The groom is a graduate of
I Shallotte High School and is pres
ently employed at Shallotte Auto
Parts jn Shallotte.
After a wedding trip to West
ern North Carolina the couple
will reside in Shallotte.

James Burleigh Croteau Saturday
In a lovely ceremony on Satur
day afternoon at five o’clock,
Miss Anne Brooks Newton be
came the bride of James Burleigh
Croteau. The double ring cere
mony was used by the officiating
ministers, Rev. Charles Lancas
ter, the pastor of Trinity Metho
dist Church where the ceremony
was held, and the Rev. Russell
Harrison of Lumberton, a former
pastor of the bride.
The altar was arranged for the
ocassion with two floor baskets
of white and yellow chrysanthe
mums and gladioli with candles
forming an arch behind.
Prior to the ceremony nuptial
music was provided by Mrs. Gar
vin Faulkner of Wilmington, solo
ist, and Mrs. James M. Harper,
Jr., organist.
The bride was given in marri
age by her father, Edward Cran
mer Newton. She w7as lovely in a
gown of rosepoint lace over silk
organza, made with a portrait
neckline edged with sequins and
pearls and with lace appliques on
the full skirt which was caught
up in a bustle in back. A chapel

bouquets.
Flower girl was little Miss
Rebecca Lynn Newton of Wil
mington, a niece of the bride. She
wore a dress of blue organdy and
carried a white basket of yellow
and white flowers.
Harold Carrow ot Baltimore,
Md. was best man. Ushers were
Jackson Newton of Chapel Hill
and Louis Newton of Wilmington,
brothers of the bride; Carl Knox
of Wilmington, an uncle of the
bride; and Phillip Galloway of
Leland, a cousin of the bride.
For the ceremony the mother
of the bride wore a dress of rose
beige with lade top and chiffon
skirt. Mrs. Althea Burleigh Cro
teau of Nashua, New Hampshire,
mother of the groom, wore a
dress of blue chiffon. Present also
were the groom's grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin M. Bra
deen of Nashua.
The bride was graduated from
Southport High School and was
educated at St. Mary’s Junior Col
lege and the University of North
Carolina. She ha3 taught in Vir
ginia Beach. Va. since her grad
uation.
The groom is completing serv
ice in the U. S. Navy and is sta
tioned in Boston, Mass., where
the couple will reside.
Following the ceremony the
bride’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and
Mrs. H. B. Smith, entertained at
a reception in the Community
Building. Out of town guests in
