He assured the teachers that the committee will aid them in any way it possibly can. Before dismissal Principal Han kins announced that Dr. L. C. Hol liday, a dentist from Fayetteville, will be in the school four weeks, beginning October 31, to fill and pull the students’ teeth. The Dramatics Club was or ganized September 26, under the supervision of Miss Kathell Stan ley. The following persons were nominated to serve as officers: President, Dorothy Gore; vice president, Louise Johnson; secre tary, Willie McMillian; assistant secretary, Deloris Brown; treas urer, Doris Gore, and reporter, Phil Bryant. Soccer and cross county got mderway officially at Carolina his week. Unofficially cross coun try, at least never ended. Some of Coach Dale Hanson’s boys run al most the year around. And that’s part of the reason the Handers have an Atlantic Coast Conference title to defend. In five of the past seven years UNC’s distance men have cap ance'. ' It all depends, that’s what Assis tant Coach doe Hilton is saying. “We’re strong at the top but in cross country that fifth boy can kill you. Somewhere, we’ve got to find him.” Team captain Bob Bennett, of Chevy Chase, Md., West German Mike Folk and New Yorkers Art Maillet and Jerry Smith are the top contenders for the first four positions. Maillet ran with the team last fall but was ineligible to compete. He lettered in spring track, how ever, and will be a throng con tender for the number one posit ion. AS for soccer, Coach Marvin Allen says this year’s version will be better than the 1962 squad that won seven of nine matches. Only losses were to national run ner-up Maryland and Navy. "We graduated four regulars but I don’t have any doubt but that this team will be stronger,” Allen said. Thirty-five boys turned out for practice this morning. Key men right now are Co-captains Pete Blake, of Runson, N. J., and Charlie Battle, of Miami, and half backs Park McGinty, of Atlanta, and George Beim, of Palisades, N. Y. Americans, primarily school Children, are how purchasing U. S. savings stamps at the rale of more than 100 million separate pieces per year.
