For the second night in a row, redhead Joyce ward led the Lady Dolphs, this time hitting 10 to pace tiie victory surge of the Brunswick Countians. Susan Hamrae had 20 for the Lady Tro jans, including two foul shots in the closing seconds that pulled her team within a hair of tying the county. The Lady Trojans led by 7-4 at the quarter, 16-8 at the half, then lost the game by Southport coming back to take the third quarter, 8-4 and the finale, 12-7. Danny Clayter led the Trojan boys of Coach Bob Kidd to their second win over Southport, the lithe southpaw hitting for 18 points, followed closely by Donald Covil with 17. Hugh Lennon was the third Trojan in multiple fig ures, scoring 12 points. Roland Clark hit 23 points, Mark Dun ford and Darrel Wilmouth each had 16 for the Dolphins. The Trojans trailed the South port five, 12-10 at the quarter, then went ahead, 34-26 at the half and continued to lead at the three quarter mark, 54-45. Herring And Fulcher Win Champion golfers at Oak Island Golf Club for 1965 are Mrs. Lois Jane Herring for the wom en’s division and Agnew Fulcher for the men’s division. Mrs. Herring won over Mrs. Amaretta Prevatte for her title. In the first flight for women Mrs. Dot Hardee won over Mrs. Eunice Huntley for the champion ship. Fulcher took his title by de fault, when Ernest E. Banner of BurnsviUe, a member at Oak Island, was unable to come down to the coast for the final match. The first flight winner was Dr. Richard Conrad, who defeated Richard Brendle. In the second flight Clinton Bellamy defeated Clarence Murphy while the third flight winner, A. E. Huntley, won over Sidney Forster. Trophies were awarded at a recent dinner following a Scotch Foursome at Oak Island. In this special event the team of Dr. Fred Burdette and Lo rainne Bellamy tied with D. C. Herring and Virginia Walton for low gross, but figured out to be the winners, with the latter team finishing second. Low net score was won by C. E. Bellamy and Frances Bur dette, second were Robert Thompson and Jo Norman, third E, R. Perry and Sylvia James and fourth L. B. Throckmorten and Tardy Willing. Dot Hardee and Bill McDougald were winners on the blind hole and the booby prize went to Ern est Parker and Mrs. Perry. Art Huntley received a special award for a recent hole-in-one. Better Youth 4-H Club In Meeting The Better Youth 4-H Club of Holden Beach held Its regu lar meeting on December 7 at 6:30 p. m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cheers. After the regular parlia mentary procedures were car ried out members started plan ning for the coming year. Pro jects were selected and a new vice president, Angela Gallo way, was elected. A Christmas party was plan ned for December 22. Names were drawn and gifts will be given out the night of the party. The leader, Nell Galloway, re cently became Mrs. Arnold Brame. The 4-H’ers in appre ciation of Mrs. Brame’s guid ance presented her with a silver compote. Two Over ADs BOLIVIA - Bolivia's Bears captured a twin-decision over the Acme-Delco Trojan basketball teams here, Tuesday night, as the Lady Bruins downed the in vading Lady Trojans, 39-32, and the Bear boys handed the Tro jan quint a 72-55 setback. Debbie Willetts hit lor 13 points and Marsha Hickman added 11 lor the Lady Bruins as they battled Acme-Delco to a 10-10 tie at the quarter stop; doubled up to gain a 24-17 margin at the hall and lought oil the visitors, 29-25 alter three periods then moved to a 7-point triumph. Leading the visiting girls was Susan Harame, who dropped in 14 points lor high-score honors lor the game. Bolivia’s Bears were led by Winlred Lesh’s 25 points and 19 by Guy Weseott. Danny Clay ter sank 22 lor the losing Tro jans as Bolivia took a lead o 1 21-15 at the quarter, hung on at 36-31 at the hall and moved into a three-quarter margin o 1 56-42. Pirates Lose FAYETTEVILLE * a well balanced Fayetteville Methodist College freshman basketball team handed Shallotte’s wacca maw AA Pirate varsity a 53-34 setback here, Tuesday night. The Methodists were led by Center Dayvault, who scored 11 points, while Guard Tuck had 10 .markers. Leader for the Shal lotte crew were Deedy White and Danny Dixon, each with 10 points. The Methodists took an 11-6 quarter lead, 24-16 at the half and 53-34 after three periods. It was the first loss for Shal lotte’s high schoolers after three victories. FASHION SHOW Members of the home ec de partment at Southport High school will sponsor a fashion show Tues day evening at 7:30 o’clock in the high school auditorium.
