School Plans Explained Here The Southport Woman’s Club heard an interesting and inform ative talk by E. B. Tomlinson, Jr., at the April 3 meeting. His subject, ;‘A Need For Better Schools for Brunswick County Children”, was illustrated with charts and figures pointing out how the consolidation of the coun ty high schools would make for better physical facilities and bet ter teaching methods. To finance such a consolida tion, he expressed the hope that the citizens of the county will vote a school bond issue in the early fall. Mr. Tomlinson was introduced by Mrs. Afton Smith, Jr., who is the chairman of The Education Department. After Mr. Tomlinson’s talk a short business meeting was con ducted. The Club voted to co sponsor, with the Southport Gar den Club, “An Old Fashioned Flower Show” on May 11 in the club building. Mrs. Landis G. Brown was named representative for the woman's Club to work with the General Flower Show Committee. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. E. J. Prevatte, chairman, assisted by Mesdames A. E. Huntley, Fred J. Smith, Harry Weeks, A. L. Lewis, Philip King, George Williams and Miss Mary Lee Norment. He was a native of Brunswick County, the son of the late John and Liz Benton Jordan. Final rites will be held Thurs day at 3 p.m. at Community Bap tist Church in Leland by the Rev.
