The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jackson Greer of Whiteville. The bridegroom’s ; parents are Mr. and Mrs. George * Elliott Vick of Kinston. Following a wedding trip, the couple will be at home at Patuxent River, Maryland where Mr. Vick is an electronics engineer at the Naval Air Test Center. He grad uated from North Carolina State University in electronics en gineering. The bride has completed two years at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The Reverend T. J. Whitehead officiated at the ceremony. Bill Glisson of Wilmington, organist, presented a program of wedding music. Mr. Greer gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a floor length gown of blended silk faille. The sleeveless bodice and train were trimmed with Venetian lace. She wore a short illusion veil and carried a cascade of minia ture white carnations. Miss Vivienne Stelling was maid of honor. She wore a light Jane Smith should be twins. By day, she s a phone company employee, the voice with a smile, putting through calls, giving Directory Assistance. Then after work she dons her Gray Lady cap and uniform, heads for City Hospital, and spends the evening helping patients and nurses. That’s the way it is with so many teiepnone people. Southern Bell Computer Connects SCC With Research Triangle As a participating institution in the North Carolina Computer Orientation Project, Southeast ern Community College now is able to use a computer system in the Research Triangle Park located between Raleigh and Dur ham. blue dotted swiss A-line dress with capped sleeves, matching blue picture hat, gloves and shoes. Ushers were Lee Jackson Greer, Jr., brother of the bride; George Elliott Vick, Jr. and Simon Patterson Vick of Kinston, brothers of the groom; and Robin Reid Moore, Jr. of Washington, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Greer selected a blue linen and lace dress with match ing accessories for her daugh ter’s wedding. Mrs. Vick wore an apricot colored dress with matching accessories. Immediately following the ceremony the bride’s parents entertained at a reception in the church fellowship hall. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Nlcholaus and introduced to the receiving line by Mrs. Doris McKenzie Pridgen, who directed the wedding. The re ceiving line was composed of the parents of the bride and groom, the bridal couple, maid of honor and bridesmaids. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. McGirt and Mr. and Mrs. Robin Moore, Jr. also assisted in directing guests. Mrs. Robin Moore, Sr., aunt of the bride, and Miss Martha Sue Henley served punch. The wedding caJce was served by Miss Mary Floyd and Miss Brooks McGirt. Mrs. Gladys Wooten and Mrs. Ella Pate presided in the kitchen. Others assisting were Miss Heather Hoose, Miss Helen Pridgen, Miss Kaye Elliott and Miss Georganne McNeill. Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Hoose presided at the register and good byes were said by Mr. and Mrs. Otis L. Washam. Southeastern is linked to the Triangle Universities Computa tion Center by means of a tele typewriter, which serves as a remote terminal unit. This unit will give Southeastern access to the use of the system’s IBM 360 computer at the Research Tri angle. Richard Robbins, instructor in the Department of Business, will be in charge of the installation of Southeastern Community Col lege. In making the announcement of the tie-in with the Research Tri angle’s system, Dr. Robert K. Gustafson, dean of the college at Southeastern, called it “a major progressive step,” and predicted the college will make good use of its allotted computer time. Robbins said the system will be used for faculty research projects, student orientation in the use of computers along with classroom instruction, use in accounting classes, and as an in troduction to data processing programs. «• “We are very glad to be one of the participating colleges now,” Robbins said, “and we plan to make use of the system as much as possible.” The NCCOP is part of the State Board of Higher Education, and it furnishes the teletype termi nal. Jim Scoggins of the NCCOP staff will visit Southeastern Com munity College after the fall term begins, to give instruction in the use of the teletype terminal. He expressed the value of this service, “Smaller institutions attached to the Triangle Univer sities Computation Center will not only achieve computer serv ice they could not previously af ford, they will also have access to the full use of one of the most powerful university computing configurations in the coun*ry.” Altogether, 91 institutions of higher learning are eligible to participate, and so far, 31 are involved, including four other community colleges. The University of North Caro lina School ofDentistryhasoneof about 100 schools of dental as sisting in the U.S. and one of the 50 schools for dental hygienists. Some schools are in community colleges and technical institutes. The first candidates for the dental auxiliary teacher edu cation degree program at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry will be ad mitted in the fall of 1968. Grad uates of the program will help relieve the critical shortage of teachers for dental assistants and dental hygienists in dental schools, community colleges and technical institutes.
