Our deepest sympathy is
extended to the family of Mrs.
Annie Long, who was killed in
an auto crash Monday morning.
Capt. Trubie Hewett of the
Molly Ray, located in Florida,
was home with family and
friends over the weekend.
The Lula Lewis family of
Charlotte was here with family
and friends over the weekend.
From Allen N. Mosby of
Raleigh, we received a recipe
that you might like. It just might
work at your house.
SCRIPTURE CAKE
4V4 c. I Kings 4:22 (flour)
1 c. Judges 5:25 each (milk and
butter)
2 c. Jeremiah 6:20 (cane syrup)
2 tbsp. I Samuel 14:25 (honey)
2 c. Nahum 3:12 (figs)
2 c. Numbers 17:8 (almonds)
2 tsp. Amos 4:5 (baking
powder)
2 tsp. I Corinthians 5:6 (soda)
2 tsp. Leviticus 2:13 (salt)
6 Jerimiah 17:11 (eggs)
Season to taste with 2
Chronicles 9:9 (spices). I mixed
it like any fruit cake, lined the
pans with foil, and baked it in a
moderate oven one hour or til
done. The cake was delicious
because I followed the recipe.
The Bible is the same way. A
friend may give you one, you
may read it, and think what it
says seems logical or illogical,
but you will never know how
good it is for your life unless
you try the recipe. —Theda M.
Eckman.

The Southport 4th of July
Festival is fast becoming a 1970
reality now. Chairman Jimmy
Russ and Miss Cheryl Johnson,
Southport’s Fourth of July
1969, along with other
committee members are
planning the events for the
festival. The Forest City Band is
again scheduled to appear and
will leave right after the event
for a tour of Europe. Plan your
Fourth of July this year to
include the Festival! We always
take the children and enjoy
every minute of it. There’s
something for all ages.
A.' Earl Milliken, Brunswick
Heart Association Benefits
Chairman, said the baligame was
a great success Thursday night.
Plans are being formulated for
another game in early March.

The Miss Brunswick County
Beauty Pageant plans are being
made, according to James H.
Robinson, Jaycee president. Miss
Debbie West and Miss Verma
Smith have already entered, the
pageant with promising beauty
and talent. WWAY’s Emie
Wayne will be the Emcee along
with directors Mrs. Shirley Ward
and Sandra Huddle. We have lots
of pretty girls around the
county. Why don’t you enter the
pageant. It’s lots of fun, hard
work, but worth every minute of
it.
A group of citizens from the
Bolivia area met with opposition
to the new school site in the
Southern Area. There’s a lot of
thought in this factor. It doesn’t
seem fair to the folks at Bolivia
and we believe it should be more
centralized. We are Brunswick
residents—all and each of us.
Let’s be Brunswick residents and
all folks share alike. With the
fast-growing population, we
need the school more centralized
and let’s think about this.
See you next week!
