Here, Kathleen Holden, (center) 4-H Program Assistant, explains part of the display which was housed in a van - type vehicle. Permit Sought The state Division of Commercial and Sports Fisheries has applied for a permit to build an artificial fishing reef near Little River Inlet about 3.4 miles south of Sunset Beach. The Corps of Engineers application for permit show an area 1,000 yards by 500 yards to be used for the reef. The reef would consist of anchored automobile tires, chunks of concrete and old boats, according to the Army engineers. The depth of the water is 34 feet, according to the plans. The highest object proposed is 14 feet high, leaving a 20 - foot clearance. Plans show that the site would be buoyed at Latitude 33 degrees 49’ 12" north and Longitude 78 degrees 29’ 48” west. A Corps of Engineer statement says the area would be “readily accessible by small boats.” Before a permit is Issued, the Corps will receive written comments until April 1 at the following address: Depart ment of the Army; Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers; P.O.
